Where's you source for Bale telling the club that he doesn't want to leave? Tottenham signing all these players doesn't mean that Bale won't want to leave...

I wouldn't call Marca "bullsh*t" especially when they reported about Madrid's signings of Modric and Kaka long before any other news outlet did. This is the same pattern that is following for Bale.

He has been told to keep his mouth shut? What for? Why would a club that is so confident of keeping Bale ask Bale to shut his mouth? If he wants to stay and says it pubicly how can journalists twist his words? Make no sense what you are trying to say mate.

Bale's management said they will look at all offers. So why are you saying...

If he is already happy and doesn't want to move then what is the point for him and his management to look at other offers from other clubs? Why? I'll tell you why, At RM he will get paid much more and he will have the honour of playing in the Champions League. The offer from Madrid is much more attractive and is definitely appealing to Bale. That is why he has been told to keep his mouth shut.

Bale is definitely interested in RM and AVB is fearing the worst.

I ain't dreaming buddy. I'm being realistic.

Let's see, people who have actually been confirmed to either work for the club or know people who do work for the club, anyone with common sense, or anyone with half a brain, as well as the man himself. He has repeatedly told the club, his family and even publicly said (in articles buried by the media, of course) he wants to stay on another year at the very least. He does not want to leave, not with his newborn child, settling his family and club loyalty. If he wanted to leave, as you imply, why in heck did he sign a contract upgrade and is about to sign a contract extension, per AVB's own words - you can find that article pretty easily yourself, after all, the media seems to be all you believe in.

I would. Why? They regurgitated the same article about Modric. What's the difference between Modric and Bale, you might ask? One publicly and privately announced he wanted to leave. One didn't. Three guesses as to who it might be. They are blatantly attempting to tap him up; notice that they do not say in their recent articles that Madrid are about to sign him, as they did in the Modric saga. They are only saying, with falsified quotes, that he wants to leave. Why is that? Because they - and Real Madrid - know their offers are going to be/have been knocked back, and thus they are using the media to sow dissent amongst the Spurs fanbase and amongst the players. Manchester United used the same dirty tricks to get Berbatov off of us, so us Spurs fans are no stranger to these tactics. We know a ploy when we see one, and this is so ridiculously obvious that I don't even know why Marca/Real Madrid bother, save to generate views.

What pattern? There is no pattern to Bale, as he has said he doesn't want to leave. Are you incapable of understanding this? No, of course not, because Marca and the oh-so-reliable English press have said otherwise, when Marca are making sh*t up to stir the pot, and the English press are running with a story they know is fabricated just to generate views. You can believe those morons all you want, but to people who actually know the story - like Twizzle and I - we can just sit back and laugh at the idiots who are mindlessly claiming Bale will leave in the comments sections of those articles.

Did you not read the article I linked in my post? Hugo Lloris was talking about the boost from recent signings and Bale playing well, but said that it is still early in the pre season and there is a long journey ahead. The British press, proving how utterly useless they are, twisted his words and instead put up the head-line 'Lloris concerned over Bale future' or words to that extent. You might not understand the nature of media outlets, but they are moronic scum that will do anything to dredge up their view counts, even making obvious lies just so people will click on their unrelated articles. Marca are doing something very similar, save with actual fabricated quotes, and hell, if Spurs wanted to Spurs could sue Marca for defamation after they implied that Levy isn't fulfilling contractual obligations to Bale - which is completely false. Journalistic integrity has lost all meaning in the modern world, and what Marca are doing exemplifies this.

Journalists will twist everything to suit their agendas. Bale doesn't need the stress from all that crap, so if you, you know, used your brain you might actually realize that the club telling him to keep his mouth shut is actually a smart move. There's nothing to be gained from him saying anything to the press, as it will just lead to another spiral like in that Lloris article, and plus, Marca and their ilk will just publish more bullsh*t about him anyway, regardless of what he says. As Twizzle indicated, Bale publicly announced earlier in the window that he wasn't leaving, and yet articles from sources like Marca, the Daily Mail, the Sun and all those incredibly reputable papers still publish crap like that recent story about him.

Oh, so that's why he signed a contract upgrade and is about to sign a contract extension. That doesn't sound like a player who is looking to move, does it? But Marca said otherwise, so of course I am wrong

Standard media talk is to say "we are looking at offers" as in the world of football, there are few guarantees. You also have to look at the date of those quotes. Madrid may have come along offering 300K per week wages and a 120 million pound transfer fee. Hence why agents and club executives rarely, if ever, say deals are done, even if it is untrue. Plus, when the agent says "we are looking at offers", you don't think that might have been in regards to the contract upgrade he signed a month ago, or the extension he is about to sign?

Except he doesn't want to leave, as it would seriously unsettle his family, he already earns a sh*t load from his upgraded contract, as well as several major sponsorship deals he has just earned. I don't remember the details, but people who do know the ins and outs explained it very well; the reality is, Madrid can offer him as much as they want, but he is still probably earning more at Spurs than he would in Spain. Why? He's the new face of the Barclays Premier League. Let that sink in for a moment. There are clauses and crap written into his new contract that basically mean he will earn shed loads so long as he stays in the Premier League. Heck, he is playing for a top club in the highest rated/watched league in the world. He's loyal to the club and wants to achieve UCL qualification with them. The reasons for him wanting to stay far outweigh those for wanting to leave, and you have only proven that you don't know jack sh*t by ignoring them.

It doesn't appeal to him obviously, because he is about to sign a contract extension. If Madrid's offer was so appealing, why hasn't he publicly said he is considering it, and has told private sources that he wants to stay? Why did he sign a lucrative contract offer? Bale might be interested in Real Madrid, but he wants to stay here, particularly as he is already satisfied money wise and, as has been repeatedly stated by both himself, the club and people that know either him or directors in the club, he wants to stay in England because of his family. Surprise, no English club wants to buy him because of his insane price tag. He is the new face of the EPL; do you really think he would leave now? No.

 AVB is fearing the worst, when he just publicly came out and told the press he is confident Bale is about to sign a contract extension. You absolute idiot.

You aren't being realistic. You are being a moron.
By the way, did you ever realize that even if Bale wanted to leave - which again, he doesn't, as you would know if you knew anything about Spurs - Levy won't let him leave this season because AVB doesn't want him gone? Yeah, good luck with that.

Go back to reading your sh*tty papers. Because they, like you, don't know a damned thing about what is really going on either.

Like Twiz, I'm just going to sit this out and laugh at the people who think they know crap just because they read a failure of a paper.

Gareth Bale has been left distraught by the refusal of Daniel Levy, the Tottenham Hotspur chairman, to consider a world record €100m – £86.3m – offer from Real Madrid.

Real have made their move for their long-time target and Bale is determined to complete the transfer. He wants to play Champions League football, which Tottenham cannot offer after they finished fifth in the Premier League last season, but the allure of Real runs some way deeper.

Bale recognises Real as one of the world's leading clubs, capable of competing for the grandest prizes. In the event of leaving Tottenham, whom he joined from Southampton in 2007, he has always dreamed of playing for the Bernabéu club.
He has enjoyed his six years at White Hart Lane, where he is feted by the supporters, but feels that the time is right to move on. It is impossible to dispute the value and service that he has given to the club, with last season being his best. The 24-year-old scored 26 goals in all competitions and swept the individual awards, being named as the PFA's player and young player of the year and the Football Writers' Association player of the year.

Bale is horrified by Levy's intransigence. The chairman has a reputation as a tough negotiator but to Bale, the offer from Real is one that should be impossible to refuse. The world record transfer is Cristiano Ronaldo's £80m move to Real from Manchester United in 2009.

Bale cannot believe that Levy is blocking what could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, with the chairman merely maintaining that his prized asset is not for sale. Bale's worth to André Villas-Boas's team is obvious but the Wales international feels that there comes a point when it is unfair to hold somebody to the terms of his contract. His deal has three years to run.

The situation has got under Bale's skin and it is threatening to turn ugly. He has had a glute muscle problem, which has restricted him in pre-season, but it has come to feel slightly convenient as he has been in no frame of mind to play. Bale featured in the club's opening friendly against Swindon Town but he missed the game against Colchester United and, although he travelled to Hong Kong for the Asia Trophy, he has not trained and he missed Tottenham's matches against Sunderland and South China.

Villas-Boas said after his team's 6-0 win over South China on Saturday that he expected Bale to return to training on Wednesday and be available for the friendly against Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Saturday. But it is highly unlikely that he will play.

Villas-Boas has been exasperated at the persistent questions over Bale's future but it felt as though his tone had changed at his press conference following the South China match. He has toed the line about Bale not being for sale and repeatedly stated that his information is that it is impossible for a deal to be struck with a rival club.

But in Hong Kong on Saturday, he was reticent, refusing to deny that Real had made a bid for Bale and also refusing to be drawn on reports from Spain that the player was pressing for the move. "I don't want to comment on anything like that," Villas-Boas said. "I cannot speak about anything." The manager gave the same response to a question about Real's conduct.

Tottenham used Bale at a promotional launch for their new kit at the beginning of the month and he talked of wanting to help the club finish in the Champions League places, which raised hopes that he could yet snub Real's advances.

Only on Friday, Villas-Boas said that talks were "ongoing" with Bale's representative about the possibility of the player signing a new deal at White Hart Lane. But there have been no such negotiations and Bale's mind is made up about his next move.

Tottenham continue to press ahead with business for the new season and they are close to finalising the transfer of the €30m-rated Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.

They have already signed the midfielder Paulinho for a club-record £17m from Corinthians and the winger Nacer Chadli for £7m from FC Twente.

Bothers boxhead a little he's writing novels about it.

That take me 5-10 minutes to write when I'm killing time. The only person getting worked up here is Helmet Man at the prospect that Bale might actually leave.

Time will come that his novels will be rendered false.

As Twiz said earlier, wanna bet?
Things obviously change, but as it stands, Bale is close to signing a contract extension. Meaning, to the uninitiated, that he probably doesn't want to leave as badly as the media makes out.

They haven't. Even if they did, we would knock it back. With Spain's economy and the tax laws the way they are, there's no way Spurs would be stupid enough to accept that when there is a big possibility Madrid couldn't even pay that sum, at least not quickly enough for it to actually be worthwhile to us. Levy isn't an idiot.

The author has been confirmed by other journos and even himself that he is both an Arsenal fan and is just spitballing a story based on the Marca article, which everyone knows was bollocks in the first place. Move along. They did the smart thing and got tonnes of views at least....

EDIT: Oh, and just an FYI to anyone trying to make something out of Bale not playing, AVB indirectly confirmed he is indeed injured. He should be fit to play against Monaco. Given what happened to Vertonghen, logic dictates they wouldn't risk their star player on bad surfaces.

Well, would you look at that. Methinks Mourinho is having a dig at his previous employers...
Smart man. All he's doing is raising Bale's value even further. I can't wait for Levy to start playing the same games Real/Marca are right now.

JOSE MOURINHO says Tottenham are right to demand more than £100million for Gareth Bale.

Chelsea manager Mourinho says Bale is one of football’s hottest properties because he is a match-winner.
Mourinho said: “He is fantastic. He has this quality that has made the difference when the team was not able to make the difference.
“This is what makes the value of the player very high. This guy wins matches. He has an unbelievable shot, an unbelievable action, goals in the last minute, goals when it looks like they are going to draw and they win, goals when it looks like they are going to lose and they draw.
“So when I listen and read some numbers I think this kid will be worth every pound people are speaking about.
“I understand clearly that Andre Villas-Boas tries to keep him and says he’s not for sale.
“I understand the club ask an incredible amount of money for him because the kid is fantastic.”

Apparently Suarez is waiting to see if the Goners actually qualify for the UCL. Even he doesn't have confidence that they can get over the likes of PSV or Fenerbahce

Or Milan, or Schalke, or Lyon, or Zenit

Good point I suppose...

Considering Arsenal dont have the play off for the UCL spot until a few weeks after the transfer window closes, I dont think theres much truth to that.

Or maybe its just an excuse so he can just stay at the mid league club Liverpool and fight it out with the likes of West Brom and Swansea for 7th :lol:

Wrong as well.

  • Arsenal will enter in the play-off round, which is split into two sections: one for champions and one for non-champions. We will be in the non-champions section
  • Arsenal will be seeded, meaning we cannot face any other seeded team
  • Confirmed seeded teams: Arsenal, AC Milan and Schalke
  • Should they progress through the third qualifying round, Zenit St Petersburg and Lyon will also be seeded
  • Arsenal will face one of the five unseeded teams to make it through the third qualifying round
  • Unseeded teams: PSV Eindhoven, Metalist Kharkiv, Fenerbahce, Real Sociedad, Pacos de Ferreira, PAOK Thessaloniki, FC Salzburg, FC Nordjaelland, Grasshoppers Zurich, Zulte Waregem

2nd leg of the playoff round is August 27/28th so it makes a lot of sense that he would wait.
