I just want to say this about Waddell;

He has copped heaps on here and I'm not going to argue that it's not justified but I like that the guy has a dig each time he is selected and he puts in massively in defence.

That is all.

God help us if we're back to the days of "oh he tries hard". This isn't f**king primary school athletics carnival, this is the highest level, trying hard isn't good enough

Reminds me of good old Hages.

Yeah you're right. He should just tell Bennet he doesn't want to play. :roll:

He's picked, and he does what he can. Yes, he's not good enough, but that's not his fault.

Its his fault he constantly makes dumb decisions though Coby

However you are correct, Wayne is the one selecting him to play

Not necessarily. If he can't play at that level, he can't play at that level. The wrong decisions are a result of being forced to think too quickly, too much pressure, higher quality defence etc. wouldn't be such an issue if he was playing at his level.

Not saying its not his fault, just saying that's a pretty simplified view.

The problem is, if you can see it, and I can see it, and everyone else can see it...then why can't Wayne see it???

His defense was superb yesterday. He is not the greatest player in the world, but a decent option for us right now.

Clydesdale's defense has not been tested properly at this level. I would have had Waddell over him against the Storm.

Bennett is clearly of the mindset that Clydesdale isn't ready yet. I'm pretty sure that's all there is to it. I don't think he will jeopardise a young players development for the short term benefit of the team... particularly when it's a rare gem like Clydesdale.

x2. Wadell was a punt on a scrap heap player that hasn't worked out, but that isn't to say he isn't doing an important job safeguarding our future beyond this season. Saw an interview with Gus earlier this year where he talked about how Penrith had deliberately sought out average first graders to do a job for a couple of seasons in order to allow their younger guys to mature in a setting that is better for development than the rigours of getting smashed in firsts every week.

Wadell pulls his weight in defence, but that pause before he passes is inexplicable and the slow service that results is detrimental to the whole team.
