I saw him play in a KOE Cup game v Wests at Lidcombe Oval a few months back.
We flogged Wests that day, and the only time Stewart was really needed in defence he got absolutely burnt by a West's outside back when he did not read where he needed to be in defence.
Handled the high ball well that day, and is very elusive with the ball in hand.
If he is retained for 2024, think it will be his last chance at the Dragons.
Like so many of our juniors, Treigh's defence is highly suspect, and needs a lot of work if he is any chance to step up a grade.

Flanno, Mark Coyne, and Dean Young will design extra training for both Sloan and Stewart during the off-season. Let's hope that by the start of the 2024 season, these two very talented attacking weapons can also defend at NRL level.

I'm watching the Prime Minister's game and I'm sure the commentator (not Flanno) said Treigh Stewart was looking for a new club for next year. Flanno didn’t comment or acknowledge the other comment. Not sure what that means. Is Stewart gone??

I don't blame Stuart, Sullivan or Sloan, I blame their pathway coaches who clear were not doing their job properly.

Yes- there seems to be a Dragons defence deficiency syndrome- in our halves, outside backs and full-backs in particular. We've let promising players (eg Schiller) go because of it as well as others (eg Dufty and Jai Field) who've managed to play at the highest level but eventually could not be trusted in key positions.
Has to be a systemic issue. Hopefully Millard is the beginning of the end of the problem.

To be fair Dufty and Jai FIeld also played for the Dogs and Parra and failed not only the Dragons. Surely those 2 clubs could have polished them and made them in to stars if they were that good. They are clearly not NRL standard yet stars in the ESL because they have the extra time and space to play their games.

There are some skills (speed, evasiveness) which are natural and can't be coached-and that is where Field and Dufty excelled- it is often said defence is about attitude and fear can easily get into a young players's mind eg if they're not taught where to put their head when defending. IMO Dufty and Field had great natural attacking skills but lacked the more difficult learnt skills. It was all over for those two by the time they reached other NRL clubs because it would be expected that they had been taught those defensive skills. But the problems started at their junior clubs in the Dragons areas.
