TRI-NATIONS RULES

As most people know, this month we will be having a F7s Tri-nations series with Australia, New Zealand and Great Britian taking part.

I'd like, if possible, to nut out some ground rules. Namely the make-up of the draw.

Naturally, all 3 teams have to play each other:

Aust v NZ
NZ v GB
GB v Aust

2 points for a win, 0 points for a loss, 1 points for a draw.
Best for-and-against also comes into play.

The best two teams play in the final.

This is a very rough draft and I'd like it to be scrutinised and if neccessary, have a better plan put into place.

Questions:
Should we play the matches weekly or fortnightly?
5v5 or 7v7?

My main suggestion is that players should be allowed to put their hand up for any team regardless of their location, but only one team.

I like to represent a team with people with kiwi blood in them, not just some full blooded kangaroo playing for New Zealand.

I'm very confident we can get the players. Although we may have to make it so it's a 5 v 5 set-up.

We have a couple of choices:

1.) Four games - with each team each other and then a final between the two highest contenders, taking for-and-against into account.
Aust v NZ
NZ v GB
GB v Aust
Tri-nations Final
@ 1 game per fortnight = 8 weeks

2.) Three games - we could just have each game with it's own match trophy with a 'team of the series' being announced at the end (based on points and/or for-and-against)
Aust v NZ Trophy
NZ v GB Trophy
GB v Aust Trophy
(No Final: 'Team of the series' announced)
@1 game per fortnight = 6 weeks.

I personally favour the 2nd option because it's easier to manage and if the two top teams really want to play out a final, then that can be arranged afterwards.

Proposed schedule:
NZ v Aust: 17-27 Oct
Aust v GB: 31 Oct - 10 Nov
GB v NZ: 14 - 24 Nov

There is no reason why the Probables vs Possibles can't start during the Tri-Nations. Although we could just as easily kick that off on the 28th November.

Hey Willow??? Who do I advise to thow my name into the ring for the Tri_Series???? Are there Captains worked out yet??

I would love to play [-o<

BTW..I think the second option would be a lot easier on the organisers

I personally believe the second option would be easiest, for a few reasons. The first is obviously easier organisation.

The other being is that if you were to take the option of starting the PvP tournament AFTER the completion of the Tri-Nations, the first available date for the matches is December 11 - 22, which falls in the start of the busy Christmas season when many people may be off on holiday or otherwise unable to find the time to post an essay. Of course this point becomes null and void should the PvP be held during the Tri-Nations.
