Sione hopefully gets to play right centre week in week out. Has some terrible reads sometimes but his first contact is crushing sometimes.
Sorry mate, you are always the most positive poster here, but this statement is beyond the glass half full ideology.

The first “sometimes” outweigh the second “sometimes “ 10 to 1. And the 1 can be done many multiples 2 spots inside.

Mann didn't impress me at all. I was more impressed with Lino but I thought it was unusual that Lino trialled at 7 and didn't get a run at 6 alongside Pearce. I reckon O'Brien has made his mind up.
Fitz is one whose position I'd say is up for grabs. Barnett secured a spot I think. Sione secured a spot but is injured.
Our backs seemed a bit weak except for Hoy who will be a good standby.

O'Brien said they deliberately held back in attack to not give too much away about the structures that they've been training in, so I'm not reading too much into Mann's performance

He probably told them to play like they did last year

Sione is a second row, he's bulked up too much now to have the movement to be effective in D for centre. The game seems to be moving toward more mobile forwards which should see guys his size be more valuable. They also add some versatility should a centre go down during the match.

I totally meant second row haha.. I was thinking in my mind, he should never play centre... Brain fart and a half there!

In both nines and on Saturday didn't see anything from Guerra that would have him ahead of Sione for that right edge spot.

That said all the edge fowards were pretty underwhelming. No surprise we're after frizzel and signed that kid from parra

Yeah I’m a little concerned about our backline. Our Centre/Wing positions definitely have a bargain bin feel to them this season. At least these guys will hopefully play hard given that they’ve got a genuine shot at being first graders this year. Hopefully a couple of them come out of the woodwork as long term options.

I’m sure our backline would look better with Ponga, Lee, Best, Moga and Hunt if we can get and keep them fit.

Massive fan of Hunt since he’s come to the club. Apparently spent the off-season bulking up, so he should be quite valuable coming out of our own end.

I'm my opinion, that's the perfect setup. In years gone by we had a vast majority of our cap tied up in exciting yet flawed outside backs and not invested enough into our cap.

I hope we continue to spend the vast majority of our cap on the spine, then the engine room before spending too much on strike players out wide.

Yep.

Its your spine and pack that win you games, thats where the money needs to be concentrated.
