Daine Laurie and Brent Naden both come into the starting side after playing for the Indigenous All Stars last weekend, while David Klemmer, Isaiah Papali'i and Will Smith will make their first appearance for the club.

The club is taking a precautionary approach in resting new captain Api Koroisau and half-back Luke Brooks, in readiness for Round 1.

Brooks is fully recovered from a lower leg injury, while Koroisau pulled up a little tight in the calf after training last week.

let’s not worry about winning.

Most of the squad getting a run at some point, its conditioning and largely experimental.

It’s not going to be played like an nrl game.

I’ve got a sneaking suspicion the emphasis will be on combinations, some exotic plays and as we know, each player is training for two positions, so Tim might be interested in seeing how they travel in their secondary’s.

If I am coaching 26 players for a game, I’d also be looking for good execution, abiding by instructions, eyes up footy.

I think Ricky will be similarly minded and Madge is an assistant coach at the raiders, so hopefully he catches up with the players afterwards.

A couple of players will be under the spotlight to determine readiness.

Charlie will be tested from his glib kids trial. Massive pressure.

Will Smith was a controversial signing, he needs big game time. Later in the year, I’m pretty sure he will be running on. I like his utility, I worry about fitness.

Blorey needs a physical test with fingers crossed. I love the guy but some say he’s still fragile. I would still keep him on the slow program.

Im interested in some lessor lights, Tumeth, Matamua and keps. The dark horses, I always find these players interesting. The old West Tigers gamble. We can’t help it. One more spin for the three watermelons.

Most of all, no injuries and we can achieve that by going through the motions, dropping the tempo for the forwards especially. A nice jog should suffice, try not to injure raiders either.

What to worry about is dropped balls, poor kicks, being out of position. The usual stuff…

It’s like a laboratory or in Tim’s case, a big witches brew.

I think the interchange program is going to be very interesting. Poley does something freaky, needs an extra 10 minutes, who is going to miss out or do you spread the load. What a nightmare!

Maybe too, we see that players aren’t able to execute plays under semi match conditions. This is how we all learn. Mistakes are ok if we are trying things and learning.

That’s a strong team..Be good to see if we do anything without api ..looking for the rise of Will smith and Tuki…Brooks won’t be missed. Kapaoa wont be noticed. Good chance of a win.

We don't any oceans parted this week, thanks.
@stryker reckons we are going to need Gods help to make it to the finals this year.

That said, the signing of Moses is the devils work.

I’m prepared to make the human sacrifice of Brooksy and Benjis stockpile of rubber v’s

His whole harem.

Valentine’s Day must have been very difficult for Benjis old flames.

take the 2 key spine players out of any side and it looks that way, you checked out manlys this weekend?
You can’t make too many errors selecting virtually the entire squad lol. Then again, it’s us!

I am hoping that Charlie can make just one effective or semi effective shoulder-high ball and all tackle and redeem himself.

The fend looked far more dramatic than it should of, and Montoya was absolutely the dog who had his day.

That was the highlight of Montoyas career. Poor Charlie.

oh dear…

I remember Montoyas unforced knock on against the Saints in the gong, lost the game for them. Couldn’t catch a sitter. I felt for him. He wasn’t Mr popular as it was.

Part of the rich tapestry of the game!

Good luck to all the players and being a trial, I extend the sentiments to the lime splices.

Does anyone know if the CoE has a proper footy field?

If they have, I wonder why they haven’t played a trial there? Maybe not allowed or facilities aren’t available for 2 teams.
