Trial Vs Raiders

There were good signs. I think the score blew out in the end due to the Tigers second string being closer to first grade level than the Raiders.

Didn't like how Klemmer was used. Hoping he will go back to first carry, quick play the ball meter eater when the full squad is on the field. He played more like Hastings than Klemmer yesterday which didnt really make sense.

Edge defence was improved but to be honest, there was not much thrown at them. Until they face a Latrell/Turbo/Teddy type fullback you will not know for sure.

Doueihi was good and from all reports has backed himself to be the long term 5/8 by signing a 1 year deal. He just needs to learn some game awareness and he could be peaking at the same time this team is ready for a tilt at something.

Overall, from what I saw there are a few other teams operating at a different speed. It will take a few rounds to sort out which teams have improved and regressed but all signs point to a much improved year for this team.

The good thing is the opening draw has been kind and Leichhardt awaits. Looking forward to how this season goes. I am tipping a 8 to 12 finish which will be fine with me as long as there is effort and obvious improvement in defence and attitude.

I thought the Raiders were absolute aids however yes we were good. Defence very impressive, both in contact and reads on the line. The style of play was very encouraging, shifts with a purpose not just for the sake of it. Simpkins was good but Api will just bring so much more.

A question going forward , if all players are available who would be our 2 wingers ?
If favouritism and Sheens factor wasnt a thing I would say he is on the way out.
Nofo was the original before a smug Brian To'o came along and did a Nofo better and harder and braver . His reply after sooking about no origin selections was to decline further from his positive attributes and let a rookie shame him and take his pedestal.
Disregarding his defensive issues , his attack is now majority 90° sideways and his offloads are ticking a box without providing any real forward momentum or line breaks.
Bottom line is... he plays like a f**king cat now.

Might have had something to do with the tackle that concussed him last year. That was a really unfortunate collision for Nofo . Like easily the most damaging tackle I saw last year. And Not from want of commitment from him..I don’t think he gos in as hard now?

The defence was my favourite aspect.
The first quarter we couldn’t get into a rhythm, Doueihi was trying far too hard and it wasn’t coming off.
As a result, we had to do a tonne of defence and we held them out time and again.
Very in-Tigerlike.

I think that’s what we want from Doogie, a bit of go, before the return of the prodigal son.

Tim was pleased with the long minutes from our sub marquee in the heat as he mentioned it twice.

And the shocker last week, still seems to be of mild concern.

Don't mind the look of Aitasi James....Don't know much about him but he's definitely got some ability. The preseason ball work was clear to see but the most encouraging thing for me was the cohesion in the defense of the outside backs. Wakeman is better for us than Madden was.

Brooks will improve massively with the pack we have assembled and Api feeding him quality ball. If Naden can really lock that left centre spot down then Brooks will have two genuine attacking options either side of him.

But before we blame Nofo’s hair or favouritism, which are legitimate reasons for dropping a player, we might give him 2-3 games to let him settle in, under the new coach.

With all due respect , i challenge anyone to dispute my comments about Nofo.
EVERYTHING positive about his game was about POWER and the will to break a line and score or else use POWER to break the line and offload.
I havnt looked... but bet my balls if you Google his highlights they are the opposite to how he plays now... and have been since his ridiculous contract extension.

Hopefully the Sheenius can fix these aspects,we do have some depth in this position now?
