Tricky, Lachie and Tracey. Bare knuckle dust up for 14.

So with limited minutes off the bench the question remains what rotation is of the most use to the team. Granted that as long as the very under appreciated Moylan stay fit,it’s him and Nacho Times. Also it appears MM may be resigned.
IF MM is injured or Nacho hurt, then Tricky is the 7. Yet the minutes he is getting may not be helpful for that role.
I would consider putting him in the Jets for full 80 and bringing Lachie Miller to 14 to see what he is capable of , or when CT is back he could be 14. Both of these guys may add a dynamic spark to the team.

Fitz would have a plan, and I am not a coaches silent fart to comment.

But this is the internet and I did just let one slip.

Can't really remember what the Roosters 14 approach was while Fitz was there but does anyone know? (I try not to watch their games cos they shit me)..

Seems like he prefers Trindall as the next in line type half with flexibility to play in the pack.. but I didn't like the disruption that moving Hynes to fullback brought last week.. I'd he's an out and out 7 in theory then he should stay cemented to that role.

Wondering if that would mean more of a utility outside back with capacity to play in the halves, maybe as a free running small 13 where needed.. Tracey would have first shot you'd think

Out of the 3 Lachie is the better attacking weapon by a good margin. But I think he replaces somebody in the 1, 7 or 6 or unfortunately misses out all together. Too many Chef's in the kitchen might throw out the balance and cause confusion. CT has proven he can play anywhere, do what he has been sent to do and do a good job of it. BT can't adapt fast enough when thrown in the deep end for 15 minutes and panicks trying to make an impact. He either starts the game so he can relax and settle into it or he misses out as well.
I wouldn't mind seeing 4 forwards on the bench every now and then with good rotation to keep them all fresh and we just steamroll up the park for the backs to do their thing. But if we need a utility on the bench it's CT for me.

Just my opinion.

I get the impression with a full squad he seems to go 4 forwards on the bench. Seems only Trindall gets a call up if we lose a few players ?

Could be missing a few games but seems to be the case a bit?

Wild think if it’s for injury cover you use Tracey. The most versatile of the lot, most proven and reliable.

Well lucky you, you get a consolation prize.

14. Jack Williams

I prefer Tracey as the 14. Offers the most options and ads energy/spark.

Tricky playing 80 for the Jets, his time will come.

Miller, have not seen enough, looks good though, what I have, seems a handy purchase, again long season, reckon he will get a crack at some stage.

Team needs more Pele.

It's a interesting situation to be in, you know you going well when can't fit everyone in.
# Trindall - I agree unless he starts seems to struggle when thrown in, if you watch him even when starter he works himself into the game.
# Tracey - Most experienced of the 3, can cover multiple roles, and adjusts quickly to where he can play.
# Miller - started year at Jets as fullback now in halves, has most tackle breaks of the comp by a margin, yet to be tested at NRL level but what I have seen I think he can handle it.
# 4 forwards option - this is other option, we have players like Wilton/Nikora at pinch can play in centres. Brailey who can play in halves with McInness to hooker.
Great to have this problem instead of us having to throw someone in who is out of depth

It was horses for courses. There may have been 1 or 2 who got more 14 jerseys but the Roosters, like most teams, pick the 14 on need. Could be oppositions strengths or weaknesses, could be contingency for someone carrying an injury, could be to introduce a newb, could just be there is someone available with a specific skill to oppose a specific weakness or based on intel about an injury an opposition player has.

We don't need to have a fixed in 14.

Well, nrl.com, for what it's worth has Tracey out indefinitely with a groin injury.

Tricky long-term half option, but agree he's better when starting. Lachie Miller has versatility and the most X-factor, can't wait to see how he handles NRL. CT has proven runs on the board and maybe even wider versatility, deserves first crack.

I'd agree with that as Trindall only averages about 14 minutes (4 bench apps). He's a contingency. Rounds 1,2 and 5 were 4 pig benches

I reckon when Tracey is fit he'll play centre and we'll see the 4 forwards rotation a bit more as Fitz then has the luxury of having Wilton and Sifa to cover out wide.

It just gets tricky if a half or five eighth go down but Tracey would be the emergency option.

The thing with Trindall, a fave of mine, is that I don't see how he fits in as a half in this style of play. Fitz seems to want free-spirited, will-o' the wisp, footy playing halves and Trindall seems better suited as the director of play. It would need adjustments to the play style one might think. Then again, who knows what he might pull out with a free reign.

P.S. I'm sure he'll be chosen as half when the need arises.

The other good thing in terms of shuffling players is that Mulitalo can also shift to fullback, and Talakai can also play centre or in the forwards…

We are doing well…

Test out Miller pronto , we need points in the second half.
Yeah Miller and Pele.. Both players that could change momentum in a heart beat. Could also stuff up a defensive plan. Let in a few game over tries. Jeeze it must be easy to be a coach. Ive got my hand up for the job, but it seems to be ignored! Ill jump up and down a bit!!!

With the limited minutes trindall, williams and wade got last night I'm happy to see those 2 get a go

For me it depends on the game and the state of the starting 13.

I think it was after the Manly game Fitz made the point that Sifa may not stay in the centres so teams have less of an opportunity to work him out which is probably a testament to the regard CT is held in.

CT is an out and out footballer so if he's not in the centres I think his versatility gets him a bench spot provided none of the spine are carrying.

At full strength I think there is a place for Trindall on the bench, he's rugged enough and a stout enough defender to play as a roving lock but also provides much better cover for the halves. I would have brought Trindall on earlier against the broncs, I thought our attacked straightened up significantly after he came on.

Miller I wouldn't be trying off the bench until we have an injury in the halves or at fullback but to be fair I haven't seen him play yet.

The fact the bench has been chopping and changing shows that Fitz prefers a horse for courses approach a lot more than our last few coaches.
