Where did you hear this spud? He isn't eligible, isn't from nsw and would never be allowed to happen.

Under current eligibility criteria Semi would need to have been residing here before he was 13 years old. I just can't see it happening, the outrage would be immense.

Spud, either you've got a bad source, it's a BS click bait rumor from the Daily Telegraph designed to sell papers or NSW are going to waste every bodies time trying to get the go ahead to get him on the field.

The backlash from allowing Radradra to play would be huge, it'd be bigger then the backlash from letting Tamou (and other similar situations) play since the rules were just changed to stop things like that from happening.

And besides I'm pretty sure that Radradra wouldn't have been eligible even before the rules were made stricter.

Bj leilua was in the nsw development squad well before he played for samoa and was born in nsw, maguire only played for samoa while he wasn't good enough for qld or australia (he said so himself) and simona has shown no interest in ever switching to australia. None are in the same boat as radradra who isn't and never has been eligible for origin.

I cannot think of a single time that a player that everybody (the NRL, the NSWRL and the QRL) agreed was ineligible to play Origin was somehow just allowed to play.

Sure I can think of players whos' eligibility has been contested (Luke Keary comes to mind), and I can think of countless players that one newspaper (3rd parties that have no real say in what happens or who's eligible for what) or another that have created BS click bait articles about how it was unfair for one player or another to be allowed to play origin, even though said player is/was eligible whether they liked it or not.

But I can't think of anytime that a player who was ineligible was just allowed to play because that's what the NSWRL or QRL want to happen.

4 letters...U-A-T-E

if NSWRL want someone...they get them...simple as..

There's a big difference between Uate and Radradra, namely Uate was eligible to play for NSW before the rules were changed and Radradra is not eligible to play for NSW and nor would he have been before the rules were changed to stop players like Uate from playing Origin.

You've got nothing mate, whoever told you this is simply full of it (though now I'm inclined to think that you made it up to "kick off the whole islander & origin debate again" , like you did with the Samoan players).

Can't see it happening Spud. Uate came to Australia at around 15 and became eligible under the old rules. Radradra was picked up after being spotted playing RU 7's for Fiji and came here at 19 or 20 and would come under the new criteria, making him ineligable.

New South Wales coach Laurie Daley is reportedly trying to recruit Fijian winger Semi Radradra for State of Origin.

The reports better be wrong.

Semi Radradra played rugby union for Fiji in 2011. He is 22. My mathematics are pretty poor but to me that suggests he did not live in NSW before he was 13. He is not eligible for the Blues.

Apparently the Blues are going to try to invoke some sort of "code-hoppers clause" whereby they will argue Radradra played his first rugby league in Sydney.

Definitive proof that Origin simply doesn't care.
