Bring in changes in tactics. Most ( not every time) kick offs will be short with the target recivers hammered by the oncomming defence. Not pretty but a good chance of getting the ball , but in the long run whoever is on the receiving will be hammered.Very intimidating.
We must kick that feild goal at the end of the first half , no matter what the score is.
Always go for the goal.

It was a place I dreaded going at times last year...

I don't understand why the short kick off is not used more often Carina, aim for 30m out and you stand at least a 50/50 shot of getting it. Most hitups off a kick off occur 10, 15m out anyway so you aren't giving up much ground for a far greater chance of getting the footy.

I Say dont even attempt to get the ball back.... place the ball and drill the f**ker at the sideline... if a first grade footballer like the Cov cant find touch with one bounce when only 3 blokes are marking the sidelines between the 40m line and the tryline il give it away. You watch next time someone kicks off... they are open for the picking...

find the line get the scrum...

practise it and it will become a tactic... all of a sudden teams have to put 5 guys there... on both sides...

oh and by the way who said the cov has to kick it... cov lines it up and Barrett flies in from the side and drills the f**ker into touch on the et side of the ground.

all of a sudden the opposition has to put 4 or 5 on the sideline....

that opens up the dead ball line???

worth a try i reckon.... cmon ricky you are the games best thinker remember.

he he....Loving it...Sharks are finally thinking outside the square....or at least you guys are. A club from my hometown always hosed the sheds out for the visitors on cold days and jammed the windows on hot days. Just thought it was standard practise lol. We hit minus 5 when cold and 30 when hot.

oh and dont get me started on kicking into touch from a 20m re-start.... you dont even have to drop kick the f**king thing... just kick it out on one bounce i dont care if you get 20metres... thats 2 tackles worth... make the opposition think for once and stop being predictable.

As others have said:

  • Paint the fecking walls pink (for charity of course, I am sure ooh aah will vouch for us.
  • Pipe in a bit of rev up music before kick off for the basterds, I am thinking Kenny G and / or Barbara Streisand.
  • Whack some "complimentary" male stick mags in the lockers for the players to increase their focus.
  • Strategically position Glen Wheeler in the rooms for a pre match address.
Hey presto, we are back to the good old days.

Now you're talking boys. Good thing is it would be just as hard for Sharks fans to get out, thus improving the over all image of The Shire.....(RD awaits kicking from a mob of Sharks fans, in true Shire fashion...)

We do that in my son's junior league game all the time - works a gem.

Top thread boys. Don't mean to Troll. Just can't help it sometimes. Sharks forum is best value.

That's the trouble with all you old brain dead Stain Trolls.

You overdosed on the former sponsors products and to this day it still affects your mental capabilities.

My dear old dad, bless him, he always warned me about the dangers of Penfolds goonies.

You should of listened to the voices Ronnie.

Look what it did to Gregstar, Preacher and Big Pat.

"Rest my case your worship"

Cheers

No need for that, Ronnie. I seem to remember (and correct me if i'm wrong) that you're a Saints fan who lives in Bondi?
If that's the case, well even a Sharks fan wouldn't kick someone when they've reached the bottom of that double-barrel whammy.

Endeavour Field used to be a fortress. We had high quality juniors playing First Grade in front of their girlfriends, their mates, and their relatives. They'd played to their very peak. IMO local juniors generally give more in that regard than do imports. What's needed is a similar attitude from similar talent (maybe we have some/maybe we don't). Many mercenaries don't appear to give a damn as long as they're getting paid. What we need is PRIDE (with a capital `P') from our players.

Further to that: seeing our players giving their all will get a greater and more postive response from the fans.

I dont think we have a problem with players not giving their all. The last couple of seasons have shown that. The problem we had was a lack of skill.

The thing with sharks fans is that everyone still holds onto the fantasy of having a successful side made of local juniors. I am not sure thats possible anymore and Stuart Raper certainly did some damage there. However, through Ricky's programs there are a few good ones coming through in the U20's so we shall see.
