Anyway, onto last night's game.

There's no doubt that the England v PNG game would've easily outrated Nine's crappy movie had it been shown at the 7:30pm slot in Sydney and Brisbane.

then why didnt the league out rate toy story 2?

Id say in households where there is one leaguie follower (husband), would have made an arrangement with the missus and kids, ok you can watch whatever on saturday, but Sunday night is my turn (nz vs aust clash), well thats the theory

heres hoping a big ratings score for league tonight, but other than aussie games, dont expect it to out rate kids movies, in any timeslot

Because they weren't in the same timeslot? Toy Story 2 started at 8:30pm I think, league started at 9:30pm and ended nearly midnight.

It only rated 27,000 less in Sydney and 38,000 less in Brisbane than the preceding movie on Nine which had a much better timeslot.

I think you'll find that no one actually knew the game was on. Not really surprised by those figures at all.

It's pretty self evident by now that the only advertising this tournament is really going to get is the tournament itself so look for an increase as people hear about the results and then start getting interested. Until then it's still going to be a bit quiet.

an why should it be??? its not like rugby league has helped the game at all
why are there no comps for smaller nations???
why are players swapping and changeing teams ???
why arent the players given a choice of who they play for before they sign a contract??

Whuat time was it on in Brisbane? More people watched in Melbourne.

I think it's fair to say that's about half what Sydney and Brisbane usually get for a Test match.

The Australia vs New Zealand telecast on Foxtel actually passed (and finished earlier) than the Channel 9 telecast of the same game! :lol:
