TV Show theme songs

I was pretty sure about Sammy, but I checked and found this on a review of the DVD release of the Baretta series:

"One other note: The show's celebrated theme song did NOT include Sammy Davis Jr.'s vocals in this first season. They were heard at the start of the second season (1975-76). Some people believe the vocals weren't included here because of rights issues; this is not the case. The set was released by Universal, the original rights holder of the series. "

I like the idea of combining Saddest Songs with TV themes. It makes me think of The Littlest Hobo. Does anyone remember this show? It was sort of a canine version of The Fugitive. A German shepherd dog that would 'help out' someone each episode... but always moved on at the end of the episode. I found it really sad. And the theme song made it worse.

Out of the deep depths of my memory here goes...
"...travellin' around from town to town
sometimes I think I'll settle down
... la la...
I'm roamin', the world is my friend.
I'm travellin' along a road with no end"

The Litlest Hobo - a golden oldie! I watched that as a kid, and I'm one of the oldest here.

BTW, it was a Canadian production. There was a new remake series about 5-10 years ago, also Canadian, but it didn't last long.
