Twiggys with us

Perhaps he is a life long Dragons fan and wants the Red V to be great again.
im like 99% sure he has really no interest in NRL as such.. when I did some research before, but his whole family got emotionally invested in the Western Force from absolutely nowhere.. more as he saw the impact on the local community.. so were a chance of bringing him onboard.. and certainly were a lot more intriguing than a union franchise.. however.. were also trying to play in the NRL with reserve grade talent, so its hard to get new fans onboard.. as I know I find with my kids.. there is no way for me to sell losing each week to someone whos not already invested... Twiggy could actually do something about that however.. so a bit different.

Reckon you have that spot on as Squadron CEO Jason Willoughby,
who joined a Dragons training session at WIN this week, said the alliance was a great fit for the company’s future plans as the JV club has ''a strong connection to the Illawarra just like Squadron with its Port Kembla Energy Terminal''.

Thats true.. but our real goal for 2025 is having Twiggy (the man himself) all-in like Russell Crowe was for souths.. he will make things happen if hes emotionally invested.. he can sell things.. and he has the money for anything... might have been the difference in ltrying to land AFB for example.. or get Manu to change his tune..
Yes I agree TheRev. I can only hope that when 2025 comes and his company is on the front of our jerseys that he will be proud to come to a couple of games to help with moral support and all that stuff.

Having him as a sponsor of course is far different to ownership like Russell Crowe is of the Bunnies and Ryan Reynolds the Wrexham Football Club but having his company supporting us will definitely give our brand a much better and brighter future filled with clean renewable energy.

This is a good video, 9mins of Flanno answering questions.. sounds like Kyle is the organiser now, possibly the 7, and Hunt the 6, free to run and do what he wants.. leave the other stuff to Kyle.

He also made the point that he's never seen a failed medical in 20yrs, they did do the scan, but its very unusual to find something completely undiagnosed like that..... was a good convo.

Also sounds like Sloan will be the fullback, he reckons both him and Zac will be in the 17 almost certainly, but the way he talks.. its Sloan first up.

Sloan and Lomax definitely interchanging during the game.

maybe... but the way he spoke, he just spoke about Lomax as a Ctr.. but that we need 2 fullbacks, because at some point (thru injury etc) we will need the 2nd one. But the idea of Sloan playing another position was the part that threw me (i.e. he said Sloan will be in the 17) cause I cant see where else but Wing... surely Sloan cant defend at ctr.... and I dont think they'd have Lomax/Rava/Sloan all moving to accomodate them interchanging mid-game?

Pity we couldn’t hear the questions 😩😜

I am also reading that. Tells me he is pleased with Sloans pre season progress which was accelerated somewhat from a start a few weeks into the season to starting it. Mentions that there could be switching between he and Zac at times which can only improve Sloan's game. Flanno would not be starting the kid if his defense had not improved too. So do we have a stronger, bulkier, more mature and aggressive Tyrell Sloan this season.

I think the key will be Sloan sustaining it for more than a week or 2 at a time..it was super obvious everytime he'd been given a rev up pre-game, cause suddenly he was out there trying to take carries instead of handing it off, or getting more involved in attack. But he has to do that 'most' games to be in 1st grade.

I think having a coach able to communicate, challenge and motivate him will really help there.. I've often wondered over the years why Dufty & Sloan seemed to produce the same basic flaws week in and week out without any change to their game (or being dropped).. there is no way it didnt come up in every video review.. I think it was a combination of coaches unable to communicate/motivate these smaller players who didnt enjoy contact.. but in Duftys case I think he was just stubborn as an ox and actively didnt listen to the coaches (@ the dogs also).. but I dont think thats Sloan.. which is why I couldnt understand why he didnt seem to change his approach a whole lot over the last few years.. but I'm giving him a clean slate cause Hook was a stunted human being, there are no more excuses now though!

to take carries
That is when he is at his best with his almost gliding, elusive running that can beat a man in a whisper. I want to see him slipping into dummy half more, swooping on the pill and hurting lazy or tired markers. He makes things happen with ball in hand. For your info he was not only our fittest player last season but also our most dangerous attacker. As season progressed he improved getting to and defusing the bomb, counted no spills in 8 late matches, also he put more oomph into his kick returns, not easy for a bloke built like a one iron. Under Flanagan, Lawson, Young we will see a very exciting and more versatile Tyrell Sloan this season. If wrong we let him go end of year.

Flanno should go this way:
1. Lomax
2. Sloan
4. Bird

If Sloan excels on the wing with the high ball and defensive skills, then there could be a case to slot Sloan into fullback and move Lomax back to the right center. By that time their Bird may be struggling with is knee injury and one of our bright young wingers is performing well in reserve grade.

How do you see this playing out. I reckon Zac will be the main man to organize the defensive line as Sloan should be concentrating on his own defense before being confident with that role, one of many expected of the custodian. I can also see Zac dropping back on occasions to take some long kicks and use his extra size and power for kick returns.

Agree, I can see some changes in our attacking 20 and yes Lomax to take the first hitup from our defence and Sloan the next. But Sloan looks like he has bulked up and is looking sharp, so we may get a chance to see things in trial games, either way I'm expecting it to be way better than last year, the whole team was fatigued especially with our last 20min fadeouts..
