I don't think we should compete with any team offering top dollars. I think this is one to let go. I wouldn't though sit him out from spite. I'd play him where it suits us. That might be in flegg or reserves.
As far as Galvin is concerned, it's not over. We attract a couple of guns and all of a sudden he becomes rep material next year and you never know we could be in a better chance than say Parra to make a GF during his next contract, same goes for Luai.

Galvin debuted earlier than expected last year and is on 250k atm which apparantly goes up to 4 something next year. I think a lot of the noise around him is just his manager trying to get him as close to elite money in one big jump for his next contract...what he's on now is what he was worth based on promise at the start of last season ..Richo will be needing to find an earlier than expected additional 6 or 700k ( at least) which should come from Olam's retirement and Klem should cover young May. Galvin and Moses would understand that Richo needs to get things squared away before he can make our best offer .Unless it's the chooks or Penrith I can't see Gal leaving the company he's in for any similar contract to what we might offer. As for Luai leaving because he's friends with Mitch...what a lot of nonsense.

The nauseating Goulds infatuation in Galvin & Gould apparently recently reconciling with Isaac Moses suggests the dogs will make a huge play for him

Maybe he's admitting what everyone else already knows - the guy currently wearing the 6 for the Dogs is a bum.

Lachie's got talent, but he needs to shelve the grubber.
He got one result on the weekend, but put in another 5 shockers.
He's a better player than that, and should focus more on running or creating stuff for those outside him IMHO.

I wouldn’t rush into paying Galvin a heap of money to keep him. At least Until he’s proven he’s worth it.. He may be at his ceiling talent wise now? . The last thing we need is another million $ Brooks for the next 10 years who never mastered the grubber ..Thatd be too much to handle

The grubber into the in goal area isn't the guaranteed 'repeat set' that it used to be now.

Almost every time there'll be a short drop out, creating a 50/50 rugby union style clusterfark of players jumping in from everywhere trying to bat it back to a team mate. Personally I hate this and think the drop out should should be abolished and just give the attacking team the ball back on say the 20, for a repeat set.

If you don't believe the grubber is going to result in a try you're better off running or passing.

I think his manager knew what was going to happen (with Brown) and put a stop to further negotiations, to wait and see what offers would come through.
I guess that’s what you pay a manager to do.

As everyone knows loyalty is dead and I can't see how it's ever coming back.

I guess it's hard to blame the players as you only have a short career and need to maximise your earning from it. If you're a decent sort of player and have a 5 to 10 year career, and you're smart about it, you should be able to set your family up for life. Or at least own your family home outright at a young age.

It's also hard to blame the clubs. They need to try and build the best roster possible to win, and in the cut throat world of the NRL hard and unfair decisions have to often be made.

It just creates a situation where the clubs often treat the players poorly, and the players don;t care about the club.

The only people who have loyalty are the fans. Unfortunately we're the losers.

The sad fact is that managers do make more money for the players, which isn't a bad thing. A lot of them appear as though they think they're bigger than the game and go on a massive power trip, often with bad intentions towards clubs. Unfortunately the genie is out of the bottle and there's no putting it back.

The only solution for us poor suffering fans is not giving a shit. But that's easier said than done when we have for so long. I for one can't

Ur spot on.My prob is I find it so hard to stop reminiscing & using as a benchmark which unfortunately is irrelevant to this era the Champion Balmain players of the 80’s who knocked back bigger offers from more affluent clubs.

I don’t think as an effective half, you can shelve the grubber for a repeat set or a try .. Although you can shelve the half. The grubber requires a certain artistry.. it’s finding the gap and finessing the perfect weight. If you are just going to drop the ball below eye level and do a stab kick like Galvin does it’s hit and hope. Ala Brooks special .Galvin didn’t just get the yips last weekend. I’ve seen batches of these in a single game in multiple games last year when something was desperately needed..Has he an alternative technique let’s see

I’ve braced myself for him to leave, sadly until we get our house in order it will keep happening. The players will always look out for themselves (rightfully so). We’ve got one of the games best operators at the helm and we need to back him to sort this problem. Sadly the nonsense about our stars leaving will keep being pedalled until we start winning more games.

To keep the kid we may have to hand him overs and punt on him delivering, alternatively we let him go and bet on Fainu and Luai to be our halves.
