TWO new Brisbane teams

Better to just have conferences as a basis to justify the draw/schedule, not to drag in the top 4 of each to the finals, purely to say, hey these clubs are grouped together to play each other twice throughout the season, and verse the other once and the ladder remains as one regardless, that way, everyone knows why they are playing each other twice, and still has the best clubs in the top 8

Finals positions should never be decided by conferences

Ala NFL strategy - simple

A conference or pool should only be used to determine regular season games

In a 18 team comp you can have two pools of 9 teams where the pool plays home & away 16 games. Then once against the opposite pool 9 games with the ability to play home & away over 2 years

Thats 25 rounds

But that is what they basically do now, but set the pools relative to the finishing positions from teams in the previous season. Its designed to improve fairness .... and yet we still have whinging from those that don't understand that if you finish in the bottom 4 you've going to have less games against bottom 4 teams and vise versa for the top 4.

If one pool becomes significantly better than the others you'll have all time whinging.

New 140th anniversary Hull KR kit, would make a nice Brisbane 3 colour scheme if Western Corridor got in!View attachment 59897
Jets would need to saddle up with Easts Tigers to be a realistic chance. If Dolphins were brought in to represent Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast then surely the NRL would want a third team to cover Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and southern Brisbane.

The combined population of Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and southern Brisbane would be right up there with Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast. The biggest advantage that a team representing Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and southern Brisbane has over The Dolphins is all of the residents within this area are within driving distance of Lang Park.

The Achilles heel of a team representing Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and southern Brisbane is it competes directly with Broncos and Titans for corporate support and fans. For this reason the club will have a tough time getting the go ahead.

South Brisbane United?

Yeh competition with the existing clubs (though the club report showed most Broncos fans are in the North Brisbane area) and getting two old foes to play nicely together would be the biggest challenge. That and the fact we have two large metro cities with no teams at the moment and should be the priority .

South Brisbane United, in green, with orange & black as trim colours.

Then you'd have teams in SE-Qld featuring Red (Dolphins) Green (South Brisbane) Yellow/Gold (Broncos - make the kit 50/50 gold/maroon) and Blue (Titans)

I'd go with Logan as there's so many localities in southern Brisbane named after Captain Patrick Logan. There's Logan Road which extends from near Easts Tigers' HQ to Underwood in Logan City. There's suburbs like Loganlea and Loganholme. Don't forget the Logan River.

I'd rename The Dolphins to Moreton Bay Dolphins as the original European settlement in SEQ was called Moreton Bay and based in Redcliffe until it was relocated to Wickham Terrace around 1824. Dolphins will be entering the NRL almost 200 years from the day.

Wouldn’t the south Queensland moniker that would represent Ipswich, Logan and Redland etc be better than south Brisbane?

Also it would allow the dolphins to be called the ”northern dolphins“ or the “north coast dolphins.”

South Queensland Jets has a nice ring to it, better than a "Greater Brisbane" title that would be reminiscent of Afls GWS in sydney

It would bring back memories of the ill-fated Crushers and is too broad to mean anything to anyone in South East Queensland. Plus it would be hard to have a team representing all of SEQ when there's one in Brisbane, one in Moreton Bay and one on the Gold Coast.

Ipswich won't be big enough to go alone anytime within the next 30 years. Neither will Logan. The only hope is for the Easts Tigers to start spreading their brand into Redlands and Ipswich and then apply for a licence. Easts Tigers already have a strong footprint in Logan.

I don't live in Brisbane but small inner city club representing greater southern area won't work.
Afl putting infrastructure in south Brisbane so clearly big growth area.

AFL is pouring money into Logan. It's where they built their Lions social club with 100 or 200 pokies and are pumping money into the Springwood Pumas Fumbleball Club.
