Uate in play: Smith keen to keep his options open

How good is it to finally have a winger that can add some spark? It's been way too long! Go the Ninja!

It is fantastic to watch.

I love the style of footy the Knights play.

In a period of RL where boring footy dominates, the Canberra Raiders and Newcastle Knights can hold their heads high knowing they play rugby league the way it should be played.

Hope he jut had cramps and nothing else.

Deserves a run for the rest of the year. Don't know how Smitty is going to work him into the games but he adds that spark we have been missing.

Dureau is hopefully our future, but I wouldn't read to much into the success of our attack today. Souths' defence was rubbish and I've got no doubt that Mullen/Bailey would have carved them up.

Dureau's a freak at kicking 40/20s. Hope we didn't spend too much on mullo, we'll need cash to keep Dureau past next year.

Dureau definitely solid today.

Still does some incredibly frustrating things ( like killing attacking raids with poor last tackle options - grubbers that too easily go dead, cross kicks that aren't high enough etc ) , and was helped by a very poor Rabbitohs team, but still very solid.

Credit must go to Brian Smith. At least our team throws the ball around in our own half, and for the standard of NRL this year which is overall boring and mistake free, the Knights style is refreshing and great to watch.
So how is that any different when Dureau isn't there? I would say it's even more so. Dureau will be the man for the 7 if he's given a decent crack at it. As someone said previously, when Dureau has been on the field in recent weeks we've scored points and looked like we can score points, when he's not there wer're a rudderless ship.

Its no different to when he isn't there. Mullen and Gidley both have terrible last tackle options in them as well when they put the ball onto boot.

It is a weakness in our halves all year.

The good part of it is, that sometimes every one of them, Mullen, Gidley, Dureau DO get it right, which means that they have the ability to do it all the time.

Consistency is the key word I keep coming back to. Dureau's talent is there. Anyone who plays first grade has the talent.

A good first grader reigns in the talent and turns it into consistency. The ability to land the grubber kick in goal 9 times out of 10, instead of 5 or 6 out of 10.

Dureau now has that opportunity to show that he belongs in first grade. He has big matches from here til years end. He gets the opportunity to show what he is made of on a consistent basis in big must win games.

The Eels and Titans are games we have to win. Anything less than 2 from 2 is not acceptable. The halves are a big part in that. The biggest part really because our forwards will always lay the platform.

Its great to see the success, but we need the success week in week out.

If Dureau is a first grade half, he now gets the chance to show he can play this way every week. We will see the progress in the next month. Rounds 1 and 2 he was killing it, playing awesome, then he turned in shockers. Real shockers.

If he has improved and belongs in first grade, he will prove his ability by ensuring that those shockers have gone out of his game over the next month.

I wanna see a performance in the next month that has a touch of " Stick That Up Ya Karmawave " about it .

Karma has a hard time not posting anything negative about Dureau, no matter how trivial. Waste of time arguing really, most have tried and failed to convince the stubborn bugger ;-) that Scotty is anything but a dud first grade halfback.

Conversely, most forum posters here have a tough time recognising many of the positive things I say not just about Dureau, but the whole Knights team, and much prefer focusing on the negative things I say - well simply because its more fun that way isn't it ;-)

I can live with that. Sheesh, sometimes this place has tumbleweed blowing through it, so it needs a little spice now and then.
