Uate - underrated at club level by knights fans

Yep, that's right. At the end of every game almost all of you overlook his consistency in the KOTW. He is by far out best, most consistent player every game.

He is our best forward and our best back yet he rarely gets points unless he makes over 200 metres and scores 3 tries.

If any player deserves to be sick of playing with geniuss every week it's him.

Rant over.

everyone has been wanking over jimmy's form which is warranted to a certain degree.

Uate 2012 averages 138 metres in seven games, has six line-breaks, five tries and 30 tackle-breaks. He has seven errors.

McManus 2012 played eight games and averaged 135 metres, has six line-breaks, five tries, a try assist, 19 tackle-breaks. He has eight errors

I think too many people think he should be running all over the ground trying to do everything like he has done in the past. He should be sticking to his wing which is what he's been doing this year. Not having the players to get him good quality ball isn't helping him.

I did say he doesn't deserve Origin selection and I'll stand by that. There are others in better form at the moment.

Absolutely, by a long shot.

A bit sick of hearing Jimmy (who has been great don't get me wrong) has been our best winger etc etc. And no mentions of Aku. He is doing as much as he can with what he is being given. It wasn't until the 78th minute we tried to get him some space, we got him half a yard (if that) and only a forward pass stopped a try.

Aku is a victim of our high expectations of him.

And Jimmy has been outside T who has fed him most of his tries and line breaks on a platter.

We are lucky to have the two of them.

Are you talking about Uate there? I am a bit confused because i can't think of a winger in his league if i'm honest.

He needs a centre to feed him quality ball, like the Dog did.

If we can't find someone to feed him, then its an utter waste.

I will say however he hasn't looked as dominant thus far this year, he has missed several scoring opportunities through the wrong option and has actually been stopped one on one a number of times which isnt normal.

I can only think of one time personally, against the storm i think it was.

There was the clean break again Penrith when he stepped into Coote and he did the same thing to the little Cronulla FB whatshisname. Its just unlike him to not nail a half chance.

My point was he's not getting quality ball and I think his confidence is down because he's not getting the opportunities

Not picking him for Origin . That will do me.

yeh, I'd love to know what NSW wingers in the NRL deserve selection over him.

They must be lining up considering NSW will most likely put a fullback on the other wing (Hayne, Morris, Stewart etc.).

I agree- Uate has definitely looked more "human" this year. I was going to comment on it after last week where he was stopped dead in his tracks by Coote and then about 3m out from the line on another occasion.

He hasn't been playing poorly- he just hasn't been doing the amazing things that we have come to expect of him in those situations.

Its not Aku's fault that he isn't being given quality ball...but we can't give KOTW points based on how good he could be if everything else was working properly. This year he has been doing ok by his standards, which by any other wingers standards would be well above average. Something he can be gauged on every game is the non-attack stuff, and I've noticed him making even more good choices in defence, and footy basics in general than last year.

Aside from having a shitty centre inside of him, he clearly has been told to not go looking for the ball like he used to and stay out on his wing. As a result his involvement has gone down further than our expectations of him have.

There is going to be a fair bit of competition for the two wing spots - two Morris boys, Stewart, Hayne, Dugan, Uate to go into 3 positions. Of course Aku is going to be picked being a current Kangaroo, but there is a fair bit of form and a fair few points being scored in that list and Aku isn't really at the top of it...

But of course there is a great deal of bias around here. Making mocking comments with no substance behind them indicates that...

Personally I wouldn't care if Aku isn't picked. Whoever is picked will be cannon fodder and we need wins on the board.

No bias mate. Go to the interstate forum and see how many NSW teams are being named by fans of all clubs that don't have Uate in their side. I'm not kidding, you will be lucky to find 5 in that entire 130-page thread or however long it is. No offence but dropping him after a few quiet games for his struggling club side is geniused NSW 2007-2010 selection logic.

I didn't say he wouldn't get picked. He will clearly. I doubted he deserved to be on current form. That's just my opinion...

Aku is at a level of elite where he would need to "un-earn" his rep jerseys from now on. He's hovered between good and great this year... not very much out of this world, but he's capable... be patient. The near-break he made yesterday that almost resulted in a try... well very few players would have been able to do that with the sort of room he had. i think his first rep season + half off season threw him off this year somewhat.

I only have a couple of criticisms about Aku... namely that he still doesn't back himself 100% to:

a) catch a high ball
b) run around a guy instead of through him

i'd really love to see him master these 2 things.
