They start on 21st Sept. Format is 1 and 2 get the first week off. 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. Losers out. Winners play each other in the second week when 1 plays 2. Winner of 1v2 straight to GF. Loser plays the team left after 3,4,5 and 6 have been whittled down to one team.

  • Which Teams Made It? St Helens, Bradford, Leeds definitely, and 3 of Hull, Huddersfield, Wigan, or Wakefield.
  • What The Format Is? 1&2 get a first week bye, 3v6, 4v5 both elimination. 2nd week 1v2 straight to grand final with second bite of the cherry and week 1 winners play for survival. Week 3 final eliminator, week four Grand Final
  • Is Their Grand Final the same weekend as ours? Two weeks later

I hope to see Leeds and Saints playoff for the silverware as for some reason they never seem to be in the finals together.

Yes, can't be ousted now. Definitely 4th or at worst 5th pending Huddersfield's results.

Huddersfield just manage to make themselves safe in the play-offs with a narrow comeback win over Wakefield. Which means Wigan's 6th spot is the one up for grabs next week, and looking at the points differentials only Warrington is any chance to claim it.

As they stand with one round left to play:

St Helens +369 38
Leeds +218 35
Bradford * +228 33 (deducted 2 points)
Hull +10 28
Huddersfield +96 27
Wigan * +86 25 (deducted 4 points)
- - - - -
Warrington -51 24

Wakefield -76 23
Harlequins RL -125 23
Catalans -131 19
Hull K R -233 18
- - - - -
Salford -391 13 (relegated)

Key games next week and how they will decide the finishing order:
Wigan v St Helens (Fri, TV) - Wigan need to win to make sure of 6th spot
Salford v Warrington (Fri) - Warrington need to win to stay in contention for 6th, needing Wigan to lose
Leeds v Wakefield (Fri) - Leeds must win to make sure of 2nd spot and a week off
Hull v Bradford (Fri) - Bradford must win to stay in contention of 2nd spot, needing Leeds to lose; Hull need to win to make sure of 4th spot
Hull KR v Huddersfield (Sat, TV) - Huddersfield need to win to make sure of 5th spot if Wigan won, and possibly claim 4th spot if Hull FC lost
Catalans v Harlequins (Sat)
