Undercover GRUBS

People you rate as grubs but don't really have a reputation for it. Everyone can names the Matais, Hodges, Gallens etc but who do you think flies under the radar?

Tom Symonds(not sure on the spelling) for the Roosters caught my eye this season. I think on 3 occassions he took a player out in the air, on all 3 occasions nearly injuring them seriously and while he masks it well I fancy he does it on purpose. I also noted he does a ridiculous amount of face-work when completing tackles.

Hinchcliffe and Kostjasyn at the storm are also dirty players. Not sure if they are truly or whether the Storm promote their tactics.

Another player who I rated(as a human, atleast) before this season was Dave Taylor. This year I reckon he took calls for him to muscle up and use his size the wrong way, frequently trying to impose himself on blokes not far off being legally classed as midgets. He seems to enjoy throwing balls at peoples heads, particularly - So long as they're under 90kg

I know we all have favourites and probably love the grubs who play for our teams, but who'd you reckon needs calling out more?

Footnote - I'm not saying these are the worst or anything close to it, just people I noticed over the season who I felt deserved a broken jaw

I know he's retired but for me Barrett is one who comes straight to mind. Two incidents that stick out for me where;

1. Punching PJ Marsh in the back of the head...

2. Laughing and celebrating over Steve Price's unconscious body...

His swinging arm on Inglis was as bad an intentional as I've ever seen. I of course celebrated the hit, as a Blues fan, but you couldn't pretend it wasn't an act of grubbery!

Taylor is an overrated wannabee thug. I saw him play back in 2009 in the Q Cup at Salter Oval, Bundaberg. Did nothing except take one hitup, one tackle, hands on hips and on his haunches. Off after 6 minutes. Lazy and unmotivated.....and ill-disciplined.

Still in 2011.

Talent wise is debatable. But in previous seasons I always thought he was just an overgrown child, a humble and nice 15 year old in the body of a man. This season he's really turned into a part-time thug and bully

whether he's the best or the worst player in the world i really don't care about.

I think he could be great, and we need freak humans like him in the game so hope he has a good career.......... but he needs to stop being a dickhead :D

Barrett was elbowed by Marsh in the throat after kicking the ball. I would have punched him too.

Steve Price.

The amount of crap he got away with in the ruck every tackle was ridiculous, all because he was Mr Nice Guy.

And let's not talk about the 10 attempted leg breaks every game when diving at halfback's legs ...

Was going to mention Price as well.

Anthony Quinn for me, I know a lot would say that he's known for it but the guy is a massive cat. Best (and only good) thing Teo did whilst playing for the Tigers is break Quinn's face, unintentional though it may have been.

Billy Slater. Grubby as they come.

Exactly. If Gallen slid in feet-first or threw elbows at the head of the tackler laying on him half as much as Slater has done, he'd have been rubbed out of the game for half his career. The fact Slater doesn't ever get pinged for it is astounding at best.

Not so much a grub, but a pain in the @$$, Ben Hornby. CONSTANTLY intentionally blocking runners chasing a high ball to protect his winger catching the ball. Obviously its his job to do it to some extent, but taking out players all the time on purpose is wrong...and he rarely ever gets pinged for it!
