TAFE gives people the technical skills needed for alot of jobs as where Uni only gives people the Theory but not the skills needed for certain jobs. Thats why alot of Uni graduates end up working ins supermarkets and servos

Do science at uni and tell me what technical skills they don't teach you that TAFE/CIT does. In those courses, if you really think TAFE and Uni are even on the same planet then there's rocks in your head.

And that's not to belittle TAFE either, it's a great thing IMO...but it's nothing like uni. Uni will pass you by in a week.

Oh, and ffs JD. You did COMMUNICATIONS...it's not even really uni

Anything relating to childcare, teaching, business etc.

I agree when it comes to these subjects especially childcare. The fact that the qualifications that are involved but I so don't agree with the pricing for the courses though. It does piss me off big time.

I haven't attended TAFE yet, but I did do 3 years of university.

University is great, but to say that it is 'better' is ridiculous. It depends entirely on what you're studying for - anything medical, engineering, mathematical, scientific, etc. you would need a university degree, of course. But TAFE offers other courses that are helpful as well. I am going to get my real estate licence through a TAFE.

I consider myself fairly intellectual, and yet I am not a university student. The perception that university students are smarter than others is ludicrously uninformed.

I know.

But there does seem to be a perception that people who attend Uni will saves us all because they're brilliant, whilst those who attend TAFE (or not at all) are dumb-arses who are the lowest common denominators. A laughably ludicrous statement/mindset perhaps, but a valid observation nonetheless.

What sort of science courses does tafe offer?

I'm doing envrionmental science (needed an 85 UAI) in UNI. I remember in an early entry interview for the course below mine in Bachelor of science (environmental) that there is 0% unemployment rate after completion and it's a very good paying job.

You get alot of opportunities for work experience and a made to do work experience in the final few years of the course. So to say they don't train you for the job and you're right back to level pegging with tafe students after completion is wrong. The UNI and degree will give you opportunities but it's up to you with what you do with them.
