Shane Williams the Welsh winger who carved ever since the 2003 RWC, he looks very similar to the Leeds 5/8th Danny McGuire

Sione Lauaki (Brother of Epalahame) would suit league more than union however he's been having fitness troubles as of late which has affected his form, get him fitter and he'll be excellent.

of the current aussie teams you would have to say that only tuquri, wendell, rogers, giteau, rathbone and maybe chris latham, george smith would make 1st grade. the others are just not in the same class. tuquri is the only one that would walk into qld and aussie jumpers.

Good thread.

Union forwards generally don't have the athletic ability to cut it in league (my opinion).

Out of the current Wallabies, excluding the former leaguies, Clyde Rathbone reminds me of the MacDougall brothers with his speed and power - I think he would make a great centre or winger. Like everyone else, I also think Matt Giteau is as skilful as they come and would seem to be a natural 6, 7 or even 9.

There are some very atheletic union forwards espically in the loose. Some of the guys have alot of e pace and have great ball skills. Guys like Josh Blackie, Rodney So'oialo, Richie McCaw, Sam Harding, Colin Burke and Liam Messam would all have the skills needed to be very good league second rowers.

tirunui is always at roosters games

That wouldn't have anything at all to do with the fact that he is a Waverley College boy and was good mates with Ryan Cross and if i'm not mistaken they played in the First XV together.
Almost. Turinui went to Waverley College also but Cross left in 1997 while Turinui played First XV after Cross had left.

True. But doesn't change the fact that they are friends.

Tana Umaga would have made a great centre for the Knights...shame they released him (1997 I believe) because he was homesick.

Wonder what he's doing now... #-o

He retired from all forms of professional sport.

Now he apparently runs around once a week in park-quality Rugby League.

Every ALL Blacks player is overrated in a rugby league or union sense.
They are all cats who can't win pressure games and the lot of 'em would be slaughtered in RL. The only decent one over the past couple of years would be Brad Thorn, but he was a league player first.

Cau Cau would kill it in any code.

Think I could find a spot for Phil Waugh on a bench. He's an animal.

So's Matt Dunning, but would you put him in a top level NRL team?

Get f***ed.

No because he'd be like Tookey but slower. Waugh goes hard the whole time.

Tookey the bloke who was eventually forced out of the NRL because he was too fat or Dunny the Australian Union rep

Plenty of blokes can go hard the whole time but...

Waugh is a hunchback with little skill.

Jerry Collins would be a natural - he and Morley would be fun!
Rodney So'oialo
Any number of wingers- Caucau, Rathbone, Rokocoko etc
I've always thought Justin Marshall would make a decent hooker
Dan Carter is a fine footballer
Brian O'Driscoll is obvious

Johnny Wilkinson would be a great 5/8th. I hear hes also a pretty handy kicker. ;-)

That NZ winger Joe Rocothoco(sp) wouldnt be a bad addition to any team.

Agreed

From the Welsh RU Team there are plenty of young, fast, fit forwards with a good pair of hands:

Michael Owen
Martin Williams
Gethin Jenkins
Jonathan Thomas

And of course any of the backs could make it in league, especially:

Gavin Henson
Gareth Thomas
Sonny Parker
Shane Williams
Tom Shanklin
Kevin Morgan
Steve Jones
