What should I say to the doctor?
lol.
I ummm, have anxiety and the valium is making uni harder since a) I can't sleep b, it makes me a boring twat hard to make friends, harder to remember things.
And perhaps the most embarrassing I am extremely claustrophobic, its a struggle for me to not faint when catching the train in peak hour, or having shaky hands and breaking into a pool of sweat.
Im thinking of going part time aswell.....
Yeah give him/her that story it's a good one, you're very anxious/stressed etc taking medications, you have insomnia and it's affecting you greatly/not able to do any study all of that. Turn it into a big story.
Obviously if you can try to go to a doctor who isn't too stringent on these issues and will give you a a certificate for a week or two with minimal hassle. Probably try the doctors on campus (if you have them), as they would most likely deal with this all the time.
A lot of people get by this way, so don't think you'd be the only one. I know guys who went through entire degrees like this, just gaining considerations for every exam. At the end of the day, make the effot to do whatever you can not to fail your subjects. You will thank yourself later, guaranteed.
I just finished my Comp Sci degree (assuming i passed my last exam lol...). I didn't necessarily find uni difficult, but I made it difficult for myself. As someone said earlier, high school was a structured and disciplined environment. I always did my work, and even though I rarely studied, i smashed the HSC with close to no effort.
Uni doesn't work like that. My poor attitude to study carried over from high school, and combined with too much free time, booze, and no requirement to actually attend class, my marks nosedived. Mind you, thanks to last minute cram efforts I got through with mediocre to decent marks, and 2 fails in 4 years.
If you got into uni, you're smart enough to pass. Keeping up with your work every week is the most important thing. ie. exactly what I didn't do
Congrats on finishing dude
