US college Bowl games

I don't suppose any of the Bowl games are shown down under are they?

The Rose Bowl today was 1 of the best games I've seen in a long time. 38-37 for Texas over Michigan on a last second field goal. A player to watch for the future - Texas quarterback Vince Young. He's 6'5, 220, and runs a 4.4 40 yards. He is an amazing runner for such a tall player, he seems to glide around the field effortlessly. Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts was broadcasting the game and said he's never seen a player quite like him. He ran for 4 TD's and passed for one.

He's got to be one of the pre-season Heisman favourites next year. I don't know if he has an NFL arm, but if he does he'll be a star in a few years - like a taller Mike Vick. If the game wasn't shown down there I hope some of you at least get to see highlights of Young running.

Yeah, a lot of the Bowl games have been shown on ESPN throughout the week. I managed to catch the second half of the rose bowl.

Vince Young looks like the second coming of Michael Vick. He could be a great player if he can throw the ball a bit better. I guess he could also end up a RB?
I was a little disapointed in Cedric Benson who I had heard a lot about. Although I understand he had a knee injury which probably reduced his impact.

i think..ALL the bowl games are being shown live. HOW awesome is that. too bad i couldnt watch many of them. But i did see a game where on the LAST play, some guy threw up a hail mary and it got caught for a TD to win that game.. that was awesome!! :D

Yes Benson hurt himself on the first play of the game, and didn't seem to have as much quickness and cutting ability after that.

I don't know if Vince Young could play running back. I only saw him throw mainly short passes in the Rose Bowl, so I'm not sure if he has NFL arm strength. Years ago college QBs who were good runners used to come to the CFL if the NFL didn't want them, but now the money gap is so great that players want to play NFL if at all possible. And running QBs like Vick have become more popular in the NFL. Vince Young sure would look good in a Toronto Argos uniform though. :D

Cam, I just turned to that game in time to see the last play bomb by Iowa. Great finish. You see plays like that in a good college game that you wouldn't see in the NFL. I don't watch enough college ball through the season, but when I see a good bowl game I appreciate the difference between it and the NFL.

Just saw on the net that USC absolutely thrashed Oaklahoma 55-19 in the big game to decide the National Champion...

Meanwhile Auburn, who won every game they played this year don't get the chance to challenge for the No 1 spot....( something like this seems to happen every year..)

For such a big time sport ( which American College Football certainly is..) this seems unfair to say the least...

Bring on a play off system !!!

I was watching the USC/OU game last night and some moron from OU tried to return a punt with four USC guys right on top of him and he fumbled the ball. USC scored the very next play. How funny was that?

That was my post about last year's Rose Bowl. Vince Young certainly played a great game in tonight's game. What a player. It will be interesting to see if he goes to the NFL next year, and if so how high he goes in the draft. One announcer after tonight's game was saying he should be the first pick.

f**k vince young. if justice was done the first texas td wouldnt have been allowed and usc would be champs and everyone would be talking about Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush and Lendale White.

as much as im pissed tho, vince young is a gun, i hope oakland draft him if they dont get leinart.

vince young is a great college player but he's no where near as fast as vick nor has the arm. look at the way he throws a football it's the weirdest release you'll ever see. no-one plays shotgun 24/7 in the nfl either.

.

this game was the first time i have seen vince young play and judging from it he will be much better than vick. vick couldn't hit the side of a barn when he throws. who cares how young throws the ball, at least it gets to where it needs to go.

young reminds me of steve mcnair and seeing how i'm such a big fan of mcnair i will probably be pulling for young when he joins the nfl. hopefully the rams find some way to get their hands on him.

but if he makes himself eligible for the draft this season what's the bet the texans take him. apart from that one td run reggie bush didn't show anything which made him a certain number 1 pick.

I think Young is better than Vick, certainly he's been better in college. And I wrote in the post a year ago that he runs a 4.4 40, which I must've heard on the Rose bowl telecast. I don't know if Vick is much faster than that.

reggie bush's lateral pass was the dumbest thing i have ever seen. still the greatest college match if not gridiron match ive seen even though i was going for usc.
