According to Rebecca Wilson (not the most reliable source) the test match between the Tomahawks and the Roos has been moved from Yankee stadium to a 52,000 seat ground at the Uni of Pensylvania, and may be moved a day forward as it clashes with a uni basketball game.
They are hopeing for a crowd of over 12000.

Holding it at a University might not be a bad idea. Get a University, publicise it a little, and sell cheap alcohol after the game: you'll have a guaranteed crowd. Add to that the prospect of meeting Australians (which, to a lot of Americans is a huge deal), and you've got a recipe for success.

The fact the ground is also a lot cheaper, and is in the shape of an RL field will make it a far more enjoyable experience for those that do go.

Its like a slightly bigger Gosford ;)

No...they actually play football there!

If they move this game any more they'll need a bus for both teams at halftime!

I am just guessing, but I think a RL field is a bit longer than an NFL field. It might be painful scoring a try on a running track.

An RL field can be less than 100 meters, as pointed out before a lot of British SL clubs have or had fields less than that distance. The advantage of the NFL ground in terms of try scoring is if you look there it is about 15 metres long.

The U of P football field is best know for one of the most famous track meets the Pen Relays. It will be able to have a rugby match played on it....no problem. It is a great stadium...and could attract alot of college students.

Rumors have it the Lincoln Financal Field.....The home of the Philadelphia Eagles.....has not been ruled out just yet. The Linc has host Manchestere United several times, and could most definatly host this game.

That looks like a great ground. It's something the yankees do really well. Excell in college and university sports. Heck college football in the states probably gets the same amount of exposure that the NRL gets in Australia.

What is the date of this match? shame they didnt get Yankee stadium. would have been some pretty good publicity for the sport.

Cant see the game being very competitive though.

what are you thoughts on what the score might be?

Franklin Field is not a real good stadium by american standards nowadays, although back in the 50s and 60s it was probably one of the best stadiums in America. If you're looking for a comprison, it would be equivalent of holding a match at something like Henson Park.

The Yankee Park idea raised the profile of the game, which is certainly clever. I do wonder how much seeing the USA get mashed will od for the game, but if the get umpteen along it will be good for something.

Now, Russia vs Australia in Moscow on Winter is a game I'd love to see.
