There are a few things that must be considered about US teams that travel abroad.

If we get any, it is very little funding from the US government.

They get little money from sponsors.

The AMNRL clubs have very little money, and most of the guys pay their ways.

People who missed this tour;

Marcus Vassilakopoulos
Ed Woodbridge
Kevin Deal
Chris Craig
Erik Hollingsworth
Cory Sheridan
Joe Becker
Jeff Preston
Nate Smith
Danny Bull

Just to name a few people. So add these guys into the mix and you have a team that almost upset the Australians not long ago.

Sounds like the USA side is already made up of Australian based players as it is. With the exception of two players on your list, I don't think the team that is in Oz now can get much better.

Costin and Duncan are top notch players and i'm sure they're teamed up in the halves leading the boys around the park. And Blake is coming into his own after a year if 1st grade Q-land Cup action.

Anyone have a list of the US based players that made the trip?
This is the US team named in the programme;

1 - Col Manners
2 - Chris Waters
3 - Martin O'Donoghue
4 - Louis Tulio
5 - Gareth Gibbs
6 - Brandon Costin
7 - Jeremy Kosbob
8 - Ashley Lanfranchi
9 - Joe Hughes
10 - Ian Blake
11 - Andrew Fusco
12 - Matt Shannon
13 - Keith Cassidy

14 - Daryl Howland
15 - Alf Duncan
no 16
17 - Brock Mathers
18 - Ben Mathers

As you can see, many of the squad haven't been to Aus before - which is how it should be - because the young guys are the ones who will benefit most from the trip.

Here is a photo of the grandstand taken at halftime in the USA v Japan game. I'd estimate the total crowd was between 2-3000 at the time. An adult ticket for the grandstand was $15, so many people opted for the hill, which was $5 i think. The crowd picked up a little for the Cook Islands v Coffs Allstars game (made up from the best of four teams in the Coffs area) and dropped off a little for the Fiji v NZ Maori game (due to heavy rain).

I heard the captain of Japan (missed his name) is trialling with the Newtown Jets. Good luck to him.
