Joel Moon will start in the centres and Lewis Brown in the second row in the Vodafone Warriors’ 22nd-round NRL clash against the Cronulla Sharks at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night.
Moon, who was 18th man for last Sunday’s home game against Gold Coast, returns in the role Brown filled against the Titans while Brown reverts to the back row.
Moon last played for the Vodafone Warriors in their 12-6 win over Penrith last month but has since been turning out for the Auckland Vulcans in the New South Wales Cup. He played on the right side in the encounter with the Panthers but will team up with winger Manu Vatuvei on the left side against the Sharks.
With Brown starting, Vodafone Warriors coach Ivan Cleary has named Jacob Lillyman on a five-man bench in a squad comprising the same 18 players involved in the Gold Coast loss. Lillyman was one of the starting back rowers against the Titans. Prop Sam Rapira, centre Jerome Ropati and winger Kevin Locke are still on the injured list.
Head coach Ivan Cleary said the Vodafone Warriors’ focus was firmly on this Saturday night’s clash.
“That has always been our approach throughout the season. All we can take care of is the match we have right in front of us and that’s exactly how it will be again this week,” he said.
“While we didn’t get the result we wanted against the Titans, there were aspects of our game that were encouraging but we will need to work a lot harder and show improvement against the Sharks.
“They’ve been playing strongly and, like every side in this competition, they pose a real challenge. We must be on our game to be in contention.”
The match will give Vatuvei a chance to extend a sequence which has seen him score in each of his last seven appearances, equalling the club record set by winger/centre Todd Byrne in his first season with the Vodafone Warriors in 2005. With eight tries across those seven games, Vatuvei now has 14 in 13 games this season and 43 in his last 49 NRL games. His career tally of 72 in 107 games is only five short of Stacey Jones’ club record.

I'd have liked them to keep Brown in the centres personally. I know he didn't have his best game there last week, but I think he is a legitimate option for a first choice centre next year. Would go some way to solving the issue of who to select in the backrow next year.

Owned you will be

We will get Seymour smashed.

no,no,no

Buster has seen the light since becoming a kiwi.

He will not stray from the path of rightousness or the straight and narrow (despite what Paul Gallen thinks  )

I'm a bit disappointed that none of the injury trilogy are ready...but so be it.
Good luck to the guys, I'd be lying if I wasn't worried about this game. How they bounce back from a couple of disappointments will be interesting.

Rapira as a late addition?

NRL: Rapira may get chance to tackle Sharks

He hasn't been named in the squad but senior prop Sam Rapira could make his much-awaited Warriors return against the Sharks on Saturday night.

Rapira, who hasn't played since dislocating a kneecap in the round 11 victory over the Rabbitohs, reported for his first full training session yesterday and could be a late call-up to face the Sharks in a match crucial to the Warriors' finals aspirations.

"He could play this weekend if he gets through the whole week of training but obviously it is up to the [coaches] to pick him," said club doctor John Mayhew.

Rapira's recovery has been slower than hoped but, given initial fears the injury was a season-ending ligament rupture, a return with five matches remaining would still be a positive result.

"He was held back because he was still feeling pain in the back of the knee," Mayhew said.

"He had a bit of an abrasion at the back of the kneecap that was causing a bit of trouble when he was running but that has settled down."

If he misses the Cronulla match Rapira will almost certainly be back for the home match against the Knights on Sunday week.

A more balanced side then last week. They need to get back to what they are good at, and pull Luck and Royal out of set moves. Forwards need to lay the platform better then they have in the last two weeks. MOST OF ALL, hold the ball. Need to put pressure by creating repeat sets.

I always worry about the games that we should win such as the next 2 against the Sharks and the Knights. We tend to lose these ones. Also the Sharks and Knights are starting to show a bit of form. We really need to win these 2 games as the final 3 games, against Manly (a), Broncos (h) and Eels (a) are going to be bloody hard.

MUST.WIN.THE.NEXT.TWO.GAMES.

If we get to 28 points in two weeks time, one from the final three is manageable. 28 could yet get us there, but our points difference is poor.

The Warriors will leave it late before deciding whether Kiwis prop Sam Rapira features in Saturday night's NRL match against the Sharks in Cronulla.

Rapira has returned to training after three months on the sidelines and is in contention to come into the Warriors' 17.

Coach Ivan Cleary said today that a decision on whether Rapira plays or not will be made on game day.

Rapira will travel with the squad and they plan to bring him into the side if he is ready.
Cleary said the Warriors are conscious not to rush him back too soon.

In fact there's a better article on it:

Would be great to get Sammie back of course, the worry is if it is pushed a bit and we lose him again
