North Queensland Cowboys NRL squad member Alex Elisala is currently on life support in Mackay District Hospital.

"We ask that everyone gives their thoughts and prayers to Alex at this difficult time," Cowboys CEO Peter Jourdain said.

"We will keep everyone updated on the situation and ask that you respect the privacy of Alex's family and friends."

Keep our brother in your hearts, hopefully this young man can find the strength to pull through. This is the time when the fans of the club unite and give our collective love and support to not only Alex but his friends and family who are affected in this really tough time.

Get well Alex.

The Cowboys have confirmed that Alex has passed away. If a Mod could change the title to Vale Alex Elisala this thread would be a good place to post your tributes.

A quality young player who could have been a superstar. Taken far too early. Rest in peace young gun.

Very sad to here of a young man with everything ahead of him... Best wishes to his family and team mates.. Condolences Cowboys..
