Valentine Holmes NFL career

Yeh their 4 bottom of the AFC East finishes in last 5 years shows I have no idea, soft lad

There are worse teams in the NFL. And of all the rubbish teams there are in the NFL, none have the quality at the position that Holmes is going for, as the Jets do.

Hell, there's arguably a worse run organisation in the AFCE.

Feel free to google yourself another response to me. Idiot.

I think if he fails to make the 53 man roster he will likely return to the NRL as that rules him out of playing in the NFL in 2019!

I think he'll stick it out until early January. The Jets likely won't play in January so he'll give himself a chance until then.

If he misses the 53 he can't play until 2020. There is nothing that can change for him between September and January, so there is no point waiting till January, he will have to wait till September 2020 if he misses the 53!

I think he was assigned to the Jets technically. The 4 international pathways players were allocated to the AFC East clubs this year - Jets, Pats, Bills, Fish.

Great city, great opportunity, shit club
Ummm there were 7, three already did not get selected.

Yes but he was assigned to a team and not chosen by a team. Hayne must have been seen as a better prospect as he was signed as a free agent, without the International Pathways program Holmes would not have been picked up by a team!

Honest question from skmeone who does not follow or watch the game.

Is he any chance of making it without sticking it out a few years? Surely other good athletes who have played the game their entire life have a massive advantage over Holmes?

By quitting like Hayne if he doesnt have immediate success surely he gives himself next to no chance of really making it?

I think it is unlikely he makes the 53 man roster, which means he has to stay on the practice squad for at least a year!

I don't think that's the case mate.

He can't play a game whilst apart of the practice squad. But he can be brought/signed to the Jets' (or anyone's) 53 man squad at any time.

I'm not 100% sure about that though.

You are right practice squad player can be activated at any time but it is different for International Pathway Players!

If he doesn't make the 53 he goes onto the Jets practice squad as an extra player that is ineligible for activation during 2019. International pathway players can not be cut during their 1st year but are ineligible for activation!

I am a Bengals fan and we had a pathways player in 2018, as the AFCN received them last year, and that is how it works!

That's a Google reply if ever I've seen one.

As for Holmes, he got placed in a team to be an additional practice squad member. He hasn't beaten out anyone yet and it's a long road to the 53 man roster.

Good luck to him.

I’ve been a pats fan since Super Bowl XX. I know how the afc east sits and I know how shite the jets have been and continue to be lol.

Slim to none in reality, but good on him for having a crack.

We'll know after the 53 man roster is announced. If he makes that squad, he'll get a game.

Funny that, when Hayne left it wasn't long after that Parra were found to be in salary cap trouble, and now Cronulla have had their own dramas. It could be inferred that the NFL is a safe place to put players for clubs who are struggling with the cap.
