I believe that with Packer , Simms , and big Mose leading the way , that Vaughan and the rest of the Dragon pack will step up a few notches in 2017 .

Those three players can be inspirational to their team mates .

The younger players such as Host , Leilua and company , will keep the rest of the pack honest .

And of course if the Maestro can get his interchange worked out , we will have ourselves a pack , with that will at the very least , be on a level pegging with other teams .

And while that happens, they will be lost to other clubs who are sniffing around for their signatures.

Like yourself , and all Dragon supporters , I sincerely hope that is not the case .

However we , the fans , are not in control of these young players futures , the money hungry agents who wish to do " what is best for their clients " and of course our ever productive board , will be the ones that will have the final say .

If I myself had a spare quid , I would gladly give it to those young players to ensure that they remain in the Big Red V , unfortunately however , the Salary - Cap does not work that way .

That may happen, let's not forget we picked up Josh Kerr from the Storm and they're probably moaning about that.

We also picked up a guy called Tyson Frizzell from the Sharks a couple of seasons ago, turned out pretty well for us. Swings and roundabouts, Hastings when he left there were plenty complaining but not so much anymore

Awesome signing. I think the player under more pressure is Au Mau to retain his spot. I think Vaughn, Packer, Masoe and Luciano are better than him. They hit the line harder. In saying that Au Mau had a good season or 2 but the Saints have picked up some pretty solid players that play his spot. They certainly don't lack depth now in the front row.

You're talking it up there Slippery.
Masoe has just had an entire season out and it's been how many games since he played NRL?
Lucianno has played sparing minutes in 1st grade and is yet to face the grind of week in week out 1st grade football. When he did play 1st grade it certainly wasn't in the centre 1/3rd where front rowers actually play.
LAM is not brilliant but is very solid ND does go well if the half and hooker give him good ball which was sadly not the case in 2016.

So Titans just sign Kevin Proctor, a current international at the peak of his career for 4 years rumoured $2mill ...so $500k per season

Cheaper than what we paid for Vaughan?? Go figure...

I sometimes wonder if the Board members believe that it's only - just Monopoly money that they are playing with ?

We will have to pay overs for a few years, players chasing the money feed off saints desperation knowing we will give them the bucks, but that will change in say, 2 years when our under 20's are knocking on the door. Well that the hope anyway

wouldn't we also be looking at who we were able to retain with the $200k to $250k pa saving

2017 =

OPTION A)
Vaughan
Garrick
Dufty

vs

OPTION B)
Merrin

That's a bit unfair to use Merrin's price to include juniors. He's the star player. The real question is where is all the other money going to? A team should be able to afford one star forward.
