Absolutely wrong. It's the same as it has always been. The players speak to the media on a rotating roster, usually 2 or 3 a week and it has been like this for years.

dont care about any roster... when in anyones eyes is it ok for someone like Dan Hunt to speak to media twice in half a season?
no good can come from a meathead like hunt representing the club in front of the media..

Wow. You're getting your knickers in a knot over the most trivial of things.

just concerned that there are all these "little" things going on in the club both on and off the field that would not have been acceptable under Bennett...
and a lot of little things can grow into a big problem, and i dont want a risk of this perceived changed in professionalism affecting the clubs ability to attract sponsors or quality players..

Whatever. This particular molehill is just that, despite your best attempts to make it into a mountain. Good luck elsewhere with the magnification

on a numbers basis it's exactly the same as it has been for the last four years, but it might seem like more as we put a lot more information from our media calls (videos/stories/images) on the web than we used to?

heads up though it's likely you'll see a lot more Dragons/NRL players in general doing media after this Sunday's game as there is a new NRL media protocol that comes into force from round 20 setting minimum requirements for every team ...

*sigh* The love of my life..... she lives.....

Very confident of victory and would love to see us put 30 on them......or anybody else for that matter. Besides our 36 against the Tigers and 28 on the Roosters early on, it's been a long dry spell for points.:(

thanks for the heads up :)
happy with minimum requirements i think its good for the game, however the club needs to select the right players to represent them, or give them all media training (which i think a lot of clubs may already do for the junior players?)

Why do they even write these articles!
The story is just stating the obvious.
Win games...........make the finals.........Lose games.........miss the finals.
Fair dinkum it must be a slow news week.

Yeah its super-frustrating isnt it.. most of the time its pointless listening to any media articles, the players are so well-drilled into saying nothing, since if they do they will be subsequently ridden into the dirt by every journalist alive.

The only exception to the rule is Boyd, in terms of saying nothing but still making it entertaining.. Boyd is the best in the business.

Scummers making up excuses before kickoff. Some things never change.

But never fear, Mr Red is watching your back. A close relative of Redback no doubt.

Not to be a dickhead, but where exactly does it say players MUST talk to the media whenever the media wants?
Well it has already been explained.

Of course they can decline. Or do what Boyd did a few years ago and give monosyllabic answers. I really don't that's the issue though.

If I was coach I'd impose a media ban until we got our shit together and if the NRL fines us I will happily pay it out of the combined players wages.
LOL. I doubt that a coach breaking player contract agreements would have the desired result.

I would agree with your sentiments if we were still in the 20th Century. But the fact is that all clubs need to promote themselves. In recent years the agreements have become even more formalised and there's no turning back from that.

I'm a traditionalist at heart... but Rugby League is a business. Promotion of the game through player-media interviews is part of this.

The players know it. It shouldn't affect them if they are professional. If it does affect them then it is a club issue, but I'm pretty sure Saints know the drill better than most clubs.

We have much bigger issues than any media commitments. Personally, I tend not to read them.
