I agree, it may not be true but the perception is that they are talking a lot more. I loved the lead up to the 2010 gf, Roosters all talk you hardly heard anything from the Dragon camp. That is what they call Quietly confident. They do need to start doing the talking on the field.

... the club needs to select the right players to represent them, or give them all media training (which i think a lot of clubs may already do for the junior players?)

Media training is the problem though, that's where they learn how to crap on for 5 minutes without saying anything even remotely interesting.

That was the perception because the media was going overboard about Easts.

They looked very relaxed.

I think Nightingale is safer under a high ball , but then again maybe Morris called Tails and lost the spot

thanks for the heads up :)
happy with minimum requirements i think its good for the game, however the club needs to select the right players to represent them, or give them all media training (which i think a lot of clubs may already do for the junior players?)

yup all clubs give their NRL players media training, and if clubs don't give it to their NYC players, then they get a little bit of it at the toyota cup start-of-season induction programs anyway.

as for who does it - like most things the only real way to learn is by doing it ... no one knows how to give a good interview til they see themselves on tv or in print

even more importantly, considering that clubs are now required to make at least 8 players available to the media each round, if you only use your five or six senior players you'd get fined every week.

surely there's no way that's better for a team than having the boys spend 20 minutes a week talking to journos?

like I said, up til now we've had the same media access for four years under Wayne and Pricey ... interesting to see if you notice a difference next round!

Comfortable and relaxed.

Anyway, should be a good game. Hoping smith plays but I doubt it.

What's with the move of Morris back to Wing?
To confuse the opposition?

Might have been influenced by Morris's effort for NSW.

Nightingale did a great job at FB last week - of course he's a champion, could play in the front row and would still do a fair job.

Meanwhile, Morris was carving them up for NSW on the wing - he is arguably the best winger in the club and he added curry to that view last Wednesday.

Either that, or as the good Father said, they tossed a coin.

I don't understand why Price has messed with our two best attacking players; Morris and Nightingale in order to accommodate Vidot. What a stupid decision.

Put Nightingale back on the right wing and bring either Goodwin or Cummins into the side as fullback. Send Vidot back to the Cutters and coach him in the skills needed to be an aggressive running backrow forward.

The Dragons are losing Scott, Latimore and Young at the end of this year. We will be gaining Frizzel and have Stockwell, De Belin and Marketo to step up. It looks more and more likely that De Belin is being groomed as a prop and so there is a place for Vidot on the bench as a running forward.

I saw Mathews, King, and Cummins playing for the Cutters against the Bears last week and in my opion they all went extreemly well; especially King. I think it is time that these three player be given a run in the top grade.

Well it has already been explained.

Of course they can decline. Or do what Boyd did a few years ago and give monosyllabic answers. I really don't that's the issue though.

LOL. I doubt that a coach breaking player contract agreements would have the desired result.

I would agree with your sentiments if we were still in the 20th Century. But the fact is that all clubs need to promote themselves. In recent years the agreements have become even more formalised and there's no turning back from that.

I'm a traditionalist at heart... but Rugby League is a business. Promotion of the game through player-media interviews is part of this.

The players know it. It shouldn't affect them if they are professional. If it does affect them then it is a club issue, but I'm pretty sure Saints know the drill better than most clubs.

We have much bigger issues than any media commitments. Personally, I tend not to read them.

I'm exactly the same, I don't read media comments they make, only when I come across it such as the ones mentioned in the OP.

I just believe our players should not be talking to the media when we are in situations that we currently find ourselves in.

I have a belief that modern Footy teams are a bit like modern computers ,when they screw up you hit the restore button and go back to when they were working well . So I think that you put Morris and Nightingale back to the wings because thats their correct positions , It's not for them to fix other problems .
How it's surposed to work in a functioning front office is 1 you buy players for the positions that need fixing and 2 Players step up in those positions and take ownership of said positions . Since this is not happening you restore back to the club front office and buy a working version of Windows and replace.

On putting them back in their original positions I can agree with that, if that is the case then who would you put at fullback?

It's up to the players to make that spot their own . Probably start with Goodwin with the advice to the kid that he has three weeks to take ownership or we move onto the next applicant Cummins .. To be fair Moltzen was surposed to be the fullback this year. Which kinda proves my theory that any front office that would buy that nancy hasn't a clue.

Right on ..... well said.
1. Back to the Bennett game plans.
2. Players back in their preferred positions.
3. Give the coach a shape up warning.
4. New elections at the football club.
5. New CEO.

Fullback really is an important role, we need a specialist there not a utility like loltzen. The reality of our situation is that we got f**ked over for it before the season began with moltzen, that is cap room for a FB we need.

If Penrith can spring an upset against the Tigers tonight, a win tomorrow would see us equal 8th. Just sayin...
