Agree with all the above. Nothing to think that we will cause the top 6 teams any troubles. Still to many dumb plays. Completiion rate terrible. But a win is a win and we dont get to many.

Agree also ...I think most on here deep down realise our form wont worry the top teams...its a shame though that after a win I cant get excited......whilst I want the team to win, I now watch the games with absolutely no confidence at all ....just a small thing I noticed right at the end, when the Sharks player knocked on near his own try line a desperate side would have rushed over packed the scrum and tried to add to the score...even if there was only seconds on the clock...tough call I know but with our poor for and against tough times call for tough actions...

positives:
1. gutsy win - lots of energy in the first half, quick play the balls and intensity which has been lacking most of the season.
2. nightingale looked comfortable at the back, with morris excellent back in the correct position
3. the forwards really aimed up, Merrin, Scott, Creagh and Rein all had huge games..
4. we won

negatives:
1. the amount of dropped ball and forced passes on the second or third tackle.. the "Attack at all costs" mentality went to their head, and a good team would make us pay.
2. the injury to k Stanley - i was really looking forward to seeing him at 6, and he started out quite good with some nice touches.
3. right hand defence with C stanley looks very shaky, all be today with Fein defending there it looked worse then usual.
4. lots of ball movement but really not much there in attack still that would make the decent teams worry.

overall happy to get a win!

This after seeing him for 5 minutes?

Genius.

Yes, after 5 minutes he showed more promise than Soward has all year.

He probably even made the effort to shake hands after the game, even though he was probably on crutches!

- We have only had a handful of games without Soward in years, so to win without him is always a massive team effort, obviously we need him back asap, it was a great recovery with Stanley/Fein out.
- Kyle looked quite good, a deft touch on his kicks... but... it was only 5 minutes... story of his career though, so many injuries, tragic to be out for the season because this was his chance to get some pressure free 1st grade experience at 5/8. tbh.. the ability to play with injury is vital for a 1st grader.
- Morris was deadly on the left, saved several tries, saved several balls from being knocked on, got out of the in goal, picked up off his boot laces for the runaway try which basically turned the game, hes right where he should be on the left, just need Cooper to continue to grow and get him some good ball.
- Flo obviously pretty easy at fullback, so safe under bombs, so tough (does anyone get hit in the head more??). Also he ran back as hard as he could and got the sets off a treat.
- Dont know why more players dont run like Rein does, he jags us a lot of 'free' tries, deadset love it.
- King should be back next week if healthy, we might need the body, but it will be Hornby/Soward I assume back to the half combo with Kyles injury.
- Sharks pack is just silly, even without their 2 stars Gallen/Smith, they still head their pack with Graham, Topou, Gibbs and several other fringe rep stars, they wont be able to hold that together for too long, so well done boys for matching it with them.. granted our intensity level was completely different, our season was on the line and we played that way.

It always good to get a win, especially against that mob. I thought Hornby had his best game of the season. I also thought there seemed to be more structure in the attack, Rather than just lateral ball movement. What was most pleasing to me was the attitude of the players, They played with intent and wanted it. Morris and Merrin, how good are they? Killed it.

And for the negatives, Without taking anything away from a good win, The ball security is still shit-house and some poor defensive lapses are hurting, (cost them 10 points today and the previous game).

Overall, How good is it to get a win over the Scum? Bring on next week hey.

The try that Graham scored was a bad look, he busted through a gap - Fien was there, missed who the other defender was but it was Scott's position. It looked paper thin at that point. Credit due though, they recovered from that.

I agree that the ball security is still an issue. Interestingly, Vidot looks safe as houses now, and I don't think Prior dropped the pill at all.

A lot of you fellas are touching on it. It is not our attack per se. I know we aren't scoring too many points but today really showed up what has changed. We are making stupid decisions and are not building pressure. The team's defence is what won us the game.

Classic example of this we are deep in Sharks territory, early tackle count and Scott forces a pass, Flo knocks on. That is barely acceptable, but then it was compounded by a Cooper penalty, stupid, stupid, stupid. The Sharks were now deep in our half and built consistent pressure until they scored. That is the difference this year.

The Sharks were much better at building pressure today, something we use to be the best at. We need to get back to limiting our errors, made good decisions and building pressure.

It was Chase Stanley, but it was definitely FIen's miss. Not the only miss he had that led to a try.

Don't be too over the top about it Hoekstra.

Hornby had a very good game. Rein (first half) and Merrin (second half) were great. DeBelin,Scott and Creagh were also putting in. Nightingale was tremendous as usual, Morris sensational as was Cooper who stepped late in the game to help out up front and pull off some great tackles.

If you mean when Young kicked out on the full, he kicked on the fourth, not fifth. It was rubbish and he knew it. We were very short in the halves. No Soward (before kick off), No K Stanley (after 5 minutes) and Fien was forced off late in the game. I would like to have another look but pretty sure Young found himself at five-eighth by that stage.

We won.

at the red v function fien said he was very sore, and he will wait a couple of days,he's hoping it will be ok.

Two points. One win down, four more to go.

The beers always taste good after a win, but they taste doubly good after beating the scum. Gonna crack one now.

Nice win Dragons!

certainly plenty of drinking at steelers today, would have made their budget for the next 2 weeks.

Turns out we needed neither Soward nor Style anyway. Todd threw the best pass of the day for one of our backs to score from.

I blame Prior!!!

Oh wait, what, we won!?

We seem to get a different crew in here each week depending on whether we win or lose lol. Where's BBC with his relentless whinging??? Oh and possm to give his same 2 cents over and over regarding team changes???

But seriously, great win today! Very gutsy!

F*ck I love beating Cronulla!

Go the Mighty Dragons!
