It's hard to know what the bloke's intent was. I dunno where Spencer grew up but I do know some chaps from Auckland who use the term in a jovial and not intendedly racist manner to other adults (generally to their mates, and yeh as 'you silly monkey'). But....Spencer had every opportunity to come clean and apologise on the field, and he clearly didn't do that.
I was told recently that the term “Ranga” = red head was a slur, in absolutely no uncertain terms with fire in the eyes.

Ranga = orangutan and say it again and I get my head punched in.

There you go.

I mean everyone knows that’s where ranga comes from, typically in Australia at least red-heads are pasty and white - so it’s clear the reference to orangutan's is hair colour related only and nothing to do with skin. Everyone can have their own level of tolerance to a jibe, but I’ve never heard ranga used in an aggressive or derogatory way at all, and never seen anyone take offence to the word.

it’s a vastly different meaning and intention than calling a person of colour a monkey which is abhorrent

I've seen plenty kids use the term 'ranga' in a derogatory way and just as many get upset / offended by it.

Yeah everyone’s reality will be different, and it may be that it’s a word that becomes stuck from general vernacular in the future

Looked at the Knights draw for next couple of weeks.

I reckon there is a big chance they go 0/4. And it's almost curtains at that stage.

Cowboys and Warriors away with the Storm at Home in between.

Is there next 3 weeks.
Yeah I’d have serious concerns if I were a Knights fan. They also looked severely off the pace. With that run, if they don’t turn up with max effort, not only will they probably be 0-4, it could be with a horrific differential

Dally M Curse - Players who have those one of a kind seasons with there clubs through a late season run the clubs struggle the following year as players can't keep that up. And opposition spend the off-season on ways to shut them down.

Hayne 2009 - in 2010 Parra didnt make finals
Barba 2012 - in 2013 Dogs were 1/7 scraped in but went out week 1
Turbo 2021 - In 2022 Manly didnt make finals

I reckon Newcastle will be similar with Ponga this year.

Warriors and Penrith for me tonight.

I think Melbourne's remarkable Round 1 streak under Bellamy which should have been stopped last year mind you will be done tonight.

All fullbacks which might be something.

I also think it’s a degree of complacency that they’ve already proven to themselves they don’t need a big preseason.

Sharks are trash

but what was that penalty? You get penalised now if you try to put a catcher off by putting your hands in their eye line? Are they just making stuff up now?

Shame the Sharks got the weak try in the lead-up to half time.

I like seeming them navigate the depths of mediocrity, just like the fate of their #1 supporter Scomo.
