I had a look and couldn't see a thread...

THE voice of rugby league, Channel 9's Ray Warren, is in hospital battling a severe infection and could miss calling his first grand final in 40 years. After antibiotics failed to improve his condition, Warren, 67, was placed on a drip. His temperature hit 39.4C yesterday afternoon and he has been in hospital for three days.
"I've got a sky-high temperature, the shivers, shakes and sweats," Warren told The Daily Telegraph yesterday.
Doctors eventually traced Warren's infection to his prostate.
Warren said he would attempt to walk tomorrow and was hoping to be released. He will decide tomorrow afternoon whether to call the grand final.
If his health does not improve, Andrew Voss will be promoted to call the big game for the NRL's free-to-air broadcaster.
"One of the problems is my temperature," Warren said.

"It was 37 earlier today but 39.4 a few minutes ago. That is a dangerous temperature.
"It's up and down like a fiddler's elbow. I was on antibiotics but I wasn't getting any better so they put me on a drip.
"At the moment I can't talk with any confidence. After a day or two in hospital, I'm starting to feel OK but until I get on my pegs [legs] I won't know. I have to be fair to the people around me, including Andrew. I can't leave a decision any later than Friday."
Asked how he would feel missing the grand final, Warren said: "I haven't missed one in 40 years but it wouldn't be the end of the world as far as I'm concerned."

Personally i think i prefer rabs over voss, even if rabs is going senile sometimes

I'd like to hear Vossy call it.

Who did Rabs call the 87-91 GFs for? A radio station?? He certainly didn't call the TV ones.

I prefer the fox commentary anyway to be honest, and that will be the only one I have to listen to watching the replay after the game (assuming we win. Lose and it all gets deleted)

Rabs has become very biased in his commentary this season, based around from what I can tell who he has unloaded on with the bookies that week.

Obviously I find it less apparent on non-roosters games, but there have been some where he has been riding us home like his house depended on it, then others where he almost sounds like he is going to cry when it becomes apparent we are going to win.

Take the week 1 final against the tigers as a perfect example. When the tigers looked to have the game won after Perrett dropped the ball over the sideline he went bat sh*t crazy. When SKD took the intercept and ran for the corner just 2 minutes later, his call of that play sounded more like a bloody eulogy.

The fox commentators on the other hand show massive enthusiasm for both sides, don't waste 15+ minutes of the game with fake arguments, and most importantly are pathetically plugging some cheap ass online coupon company in the middle of finals football.

Get Freddy in there with a six pack. He's hilarious. Joey on the sideline is usually a good laugh too.

Throw in Fatty and it'd be out of control. Sterlo can do a half time report and Gus can do the intro.

Agree for the most part but do you remember Daley in commentary for the Parra V Panthers game.

He must have had his house on Parra because he never said a positive word about Panthers the entire time, in fact when they were in possession hey may have said 5 sentences, yet the 2nd Parra and Hayne got near the ball he'd fly off the handle.

Had to mute it about 50 mins in!

Yeah Vossy, is average. Good at times but just pisses me off for the majority of the game. Hopefully Rabs makes it back.

Daley is an exception to my "Fox have the best commentators" rule, although he still outshines Lewis.

I was at my sisters engagement party for the parra/panthers game, so was only watching the game on mute so can't comment on that particular game but he is in general very poor in his assessment of the game and does indeed show some bias at times.

However during the finals series he has really stepped up a notch and I've found his calls to be bloody good, along with the whole fox production.

They seriously make channel 9 look amateur
