vs Broncos

They kept driving because the tackle was still in motion (not stationary, no feet off the ground). Real question is why on earth were the referees calling held so quickly when the tackle was not complete? There must be something in the rules I am missing. Very hard to suddenly pull out of a dominate tackle in motion...

its part of the new attack/defence attitude. They were talking about it on 40/20. Everytime a tackle was made, the opposition went backwards.

It would be ok with the early held call if the opposition player stopped trying to make ground. they don't.

20 mins into the game I thought the refs were going to have a big influence in the result when they started the early held calls..

Broncos were inspirational they didn't give up for one second in that game. A well deserved win to earn them that much needed points. In a way this lose is a good thing as I would prefer we go into the Manly game with a bruised ego as when the teams angry we really f**k teams up. Manly are the team to beat so angry Warriors = Bad for Manly!

It's kind of odd because they never call held when a player is being driven toward the sideline.

same here. I was thinking, this is bs with the held calls. and I was waiting for the penalty. Sure enough. pinged.

I had been hoping Cappy had fixed this attitude of unravelling when things are going against them but looks like more work needs to be done. It was the young guys that particularly failed to front. Fusitua might need a wake up call in the NSW cup. Laumape back. What to do with Danger?

Could drop Fusitua, move Laumape to the wing and keep Danger where he is, if you wanted to punish Fusitua. Danger has been back to him good old solid self since he came back, actually thought he was pretty good last night. The way Cappy seems to pick the team its more likely Fusitua would be dropped than Danger to allow for Laumape to come back in.

I didn't catch what the Hurrell issue was, was it just concussion? Even if he isn't injured, he was on report for a shoulder to the head. If he is out then you keep the team as is and just slot Laumape in. Certainly want to make room for Ngani anyway.

It seemed like a number of times the ball went to the wrong player on 5th tackle. I think that was maybe a blunder from Leuluia at dummy half.

McFadden will have to work out whether to drop him or not...

TL was the strange one for me - not up to speed yet, and regardless offers little that Friend doesn't do anyway (cue the TL fan hate) - regardless, could have done with some go forward TBH, even if that's only Gubb

Miss Rapira a lot - Matagi is, to be blunt, not that good - ok off the bench for short minutes - but a couple of high impact runs and disappearing isn't what we need... and Matullino playing in the back row seems more and more like a bad idea at the moment given the shortage of props

Leuluai was off the pace, Friend should of got more time. Johnson went missing, particularly bad were our 6th tackle plays, Matulino caught with the ball on the 6th and the constant bombing to Maranta who was gobbling them up. We need to come back angry next week against Manly. Tomkins was good I thought, his kick returns are getting much better.

Geez, we all turned on Fusitua quickly.

He's only 19 and still just a few games into his FG career - regardless of him being hugely bad, even a moderately bad/lazy performance should be enough to drop him.. instill the attitude early of hard work = rewards, laziness = reserves.

I don't really care if he's the best option short term for the Manly game (which is debatable), I'd be dropping him anyway after the Broncos game - Laumape to the right wing, keep Nielsen in for one more match.

A bad game but trying hard is forgiveable, but a bad game with abysmal effort is not, that is why the harshness...And it was not just his feeble tackle effort, it was his soft sideways hitups and poor support play - all aspects of his game he has proven adept at in recent games yet blew it on all fronts this game. Very disappointing.

Despite danger playing well. I would slot laumape back in centers and give fusitua a rocket up his ass wit another chance on the wing. Think having laumape on wing and neilsen in centers is a step backward but one to employ if next week fusitua not up to it.

Harsh on neilsen but too bad.

I really want to see Matulino playing in the back row, but there's a price to that. We basically need Rapira, Lillyman, Matagi and another prop (Gubb) to pull that off. Alternatively, Matulino could shift into the middle when Mateo comes on, but if he fit enough right now to play big minutes AND spend time in the middle?

Yep, I get that.

I guess we've seen (with Hurrell) that McFadden is willing (or eager) to punish a lack of commitment/poor attitude. So we'll see what happens

Just a thought?

1- Tomkins
2- Kata
3- Hurrell
4- Laumape
5- Vatuvei

Not sure if introducing Kata to first grade against Manly is the best idea. There's games coming up against the Sharks, Raiders, and Knights that might be an easier transition.
I was inclined to drop Fusitua, but also inclined after sleeping on it, to consider McFadden working on him this week, and hopefully Fusitua will have a blinder....He can finish, no doubt about that. I would like Laumape back as although Danger has been playing well, Laumape gives us more punch on attack which i think we will need against Manly's backline.
Hopefully Hurrells concussion is only mild. I dont think he has a case to answer with the head shot. If you watch the video, McCullough was turning and falling in the tackle by the time Hurrells shoulder reached him, so it was unlucky.

yeah, so do I - but with the current prop rotation, and having a half/hooker on the bench, we lack punch... even with those 4, we seldom get much from Matagi and Gubb
