Heartbreaker. Warriors played well and took every opportunity offered. Dolphins butchered so many chances and got lucky at the death

Hammer was playing like he had his ex Mrs on his mind (couldn’t blame him), least impactful back on the park. Katoa didn’t really deliver to his hype either

As I mentioned earlier, I feel the Warriors have to keep TMM at 6, he is a class above CHT with the ball in hand. Boyd is a big worry in defence with big games on the horizon

That was absolute dirt from Kaufusi too, can’t take the Storm out of the boy

DWZ, real cat on a hot tin roof stuff watching him play, scored a couple of nice ones, somehow saved a couple, his team mates saved him at times, has his usual stay down moment which rightfully got rewarded, and gave away the crucial penalty. He is exhausting to watch as a neutral lol

29m on first set, Ford held down and no love.
Dolphins 53m and easily into our 30m.
Clark penalised for high shot, Dolphins start on our 40m.
Dolphins get more for similar tackle on Ford earlier.
Gifted try for Farnsworth. DWZ couldn't tackle him and Boyd couldn't cover.

0-6 6mins

Ford penalised for ruck interference. Fins on their 40m.
How CNK not penalised?
Tuaupiki forced in goal.
CNK tap back regathered.
RTS held down and earns a penalty, start on our 45m.
Ball through hands and DWZ scores anything buildup as looked easy? Nikorima just jammed in on Halasima.

6-6 12mins

Ford again gets treatment in tackle and no love.
Halasima goes up for bomb, Dolphins knock it on, scrum on their 10m.
Kick by TMM on 4th taken dead.
Dolphins go up and we don't to regather!
2nd marker never square or 10 tacklea Healey but let go, RTS taken off ball not penalised, Hammer knock forward, let go! WTF!
CNK with some good aggressive defense.
Farnsworth clear break after Boyd missed and Halasima slipped off him, Mt Smart snipper got him, hammy gone with 45m to line and Hammer unmarked! Bloody lucky there!
Knock on called on Warriors on bomb.
Captains challenge, no touch by Tuipaki, Ford double touch to knock back, DWZ knocks it into Niukore hands, but beaches whistle blew before DWZ touched it so, Warriors ball! Lucky again.
6 again for Warriors for ruck infringement I didn't see other that high on Healy.
6 again this time Dolphins to slow.
Halasima coughs up a ball with Nikorima up (halves need to see that)
Marshall-King makes a break past Healey but passes it to Capewell!
Dolphins with a lifting tackle on Ford. Starting 25m out.
Niukore knocks on ball on ground 10m out.
Tuipaki drops ball in competition with Hammer, 6 tackles for dolphins inside our 20m, Ford then gives away 6 again 10m out tackle 1.
Marshall King from dummy half scores.
Hold on elbow touches ground like Egan vs Knights and then extended!!!!! But given try!!

6-12 27mins.

Dolphins pass goes to ground, DWZ toes it but spins out. 60m out. Healy follows up with a crusher tackle on halfway. Dolphins on 30m.
Dolphins with a 3man overlap on their right, such poor reads from inside men, dragging everything in.

6-16 32mins

We see the pattern yet, mistakes and penalties give Dolphins points

Healy on a break taken high on halfway. Was nice to see 4 jersey around him on the break.
Ford makes a break stopped 3m out, then a blatant flop on him, only given 6 again.
Capewell from dummy half held up over line. Bunker can't see any angles with ball on ground.
Ford again late offload luckyl knocked on by Dolphins 3m out.
6 again as Dolphins inside 10m.
DWZ in the corner again, avoiding Hammer coming across. Nice quick hands.

12-16 38mins great conversion.

Nice hands and offloads make it interesting, but Boyd kick not high enough for Halasima to get to it before Dolphins.

HALFTIME

DWZ stays down, ref missed a clear high shot by Nicholls. Starting on halfway.
Boyd kick taken on full in goal, 7 tackles for Dolphins.
Healy again can't buy a marker not square penalty.
Dolphins with an obvious forward pass from dummy half, scrum on their 35m.
Capewell held down on last but no love. Halasima with poor timed jump knock ball on 10m out.
Tuaupiki clipped high by Issako but no love.
Ford penalised for losing balance playing the ball, pulled down by Dolphins in the motion! Clearly to his feet! Bullshit call.
Tuipaki forces
Dolphins flying for the corner out!
TMM chip knocked dead by Issako.
Lussick Volleyballs it back 15m for Boyd to pick up.
Halasima with a catch finally on a Boyd cross kick, hits the ground and gets up as no on on him to score.

18-16 60mins

Lussick out of line tackling Dolphins, called knock on, but Dolphons challenge and passing the ball is knocked on by Lussick. Dolphins scrum 35m out.
Wow, hands by DWZ as Nikorima pass intercepted by him 3m out.
Laban taken out on bomb chase, no love.
Touchie on our left giving us nothing in the ruck.
RTS great return.
Poor last kick, RTS can't get it away 10m out.
Dolphins chip thru called knock on Tuaupiki on our 30m.
Dolphins pass goes to ground and out.
Boyd runs behind Laban and penalised after juggling the ball before a kick
Dolphins 35m out.
Nikorima knocks it on scoring the try! Gets up fibbing! Bunker catches it! Bloody lucky. 7mins left.
Dolphins allowed to twist Halasima trying for quick play the ball.
Dirty bastard Kafusi hits Laban low 3rd man in below the knee! Bunker puts him in the bin!!!! 6.49 to go.
Not taking the 2 10m out.
Healy tackled 1m out.
Midfield bomb by Dolphins, knocked forward by them into Tuipaki. Captains challenge.
Dolphins player offside who regathers ball.
4.45min left.
TMM tackled 5m out on last.
We are trying to defend a 2 point lead!!!!
DWZ penalised for high shot.
Dolphins 35m out.
Issako goes in the corner, after going through the hands. RTS jammed in.

18-20 fulltime

Take the two? No. We aim to put them away, six mins left, a Dolphin in the bin.

The stress. Five mins to go. The Dolphins lose a cc, a knock-on turns into a penalty for us. Good set, changeover five metres from the Dolphins line. They need to go 95 metres...high shot by Dallin, 38 metres out, seven metres in, but they don't take the two.

...and then Isaako scores. We lose, 20-18.
We tried to defend the lead, dying with the ball on last. We got what we deserved playing like that! Still suck.

That’s an extremely common play these days, not wanting to risk giving away a 7 tackle set so turning it over a few metres out. We see the same with players not taking shots at field goal to put a game away

Such a risk averse game coached these days rather than guys backing their skills

I don't think the team that played last night is going to threaten to win a premiership by any means, but there were some good signs. They played with a lot of desire and played some more exciting football at times.

Clark was back to where he was earlier in the season.

Ford was especially good in the back end of the second half.

Healey brought a running element that exceeds even what Egan does, even if it does sometimes take us away from structure.

Martin looks way better settled in the halves than in a utility role.

Niukore looked better and more willing with the ball in hand, but a bit soft defensively.

I am really disappointed after the loss and how the season is falling apart

I have mixed feelings about the game last night, we did better than expected with all those players out.

But we could have or maybe should have done more when we were pressing their line several time with Kafusi in the.bin.

I do understand the thinking behind not putting a kick into the in-goal and risking a line drop out being 50-50. I guess I don't really understand us having a bit more intent to attack in those couple of sets in the lead up to the last tackle, especially after turning down a shot at goal which probably would have been the ultimate defensive play. Weird.

Take the 2 and back yourself or throw everything at them and then settle with a run on the last. We just seemed to be stuck between two good ideas, really.

6-8+ point lead I get for sure.

Instead we give away a penalty and invited them to win the game.
TMM grubbers had been taken dead a few times, work to force the repeat set. Back the guys skills as you said.
Just dumb football, which I guess I shoul be use to by now.
