But he was on his own for a few moments too, just after he made his last tackle but before play had swung back right.

How do you tell a young fella he needs to - essentially - show more backbone, without pissing him off or crushing his spirit.

Geez my mind tells me it's very unlikely. A real gamble that has no real basis in reality - referees don't tend to stop games unless they are serious head/neck injuries do they?

I think trainers telling players who've copped a stray shot or hip drop to stay down and wait for the bunker to view footage isn't uncommon. Different scenario obviously, but with the general intent being the same.

With where Leka was, and the way the play was flowing, the ref may have stopped it simply because he was in the way. In hindsight I'm glad he didn't. That would've been a shitty way to close out a game.

I’d imagine they’d have had a video session and maybe some senior players may have given him some advice
