Based on the highlights I just saw, would it be too harsh to say Lewis Brown can get f*cked and play his last match in the Vulcans? I used to really like the guy but he has phoned this season in from a great distance. And we all know why. How many shirt grabs did he miss in the lead-up to the 2nd try, four or five?
If they'd had an honest crack and came up short then I'd still be in their corner, but they haven't.
There's plenty of times when I've felt really proud of them when they've lost. However, this season is something else, they couldn't give a xxxx and we've noticed this for a while now. It seems like such a betrayal after the heights, and subsequent expectations, of last year.
Next year seems to be more or less the same squad, with a new coach. He'll have to be a big personality to turn it around and if this attitude of the players and staff continues then I'm heading back to Canberra where it all began.
Might even support my old local team, Manly, over this lot.
In fact, do Manawatu have a team these days? They didn't when I grew up there.
