He should in theory but that is such a f**king indictment on our side. Jono Wright should be a last resort but he's now a 'okay, he's the least of our concerns' type.

I was thinking that earlier. Early season with SJ off the pace we were average, mid season when he fired were were good and looked finals bound, without him we're utterly f**ked. We need a competent deputy, not a NSW cup level player counting the days til he goes home.

We need to race out of the gates next year (and should have this year) - at this stage we should be in Brisbane's position - already gearing up for semis - the injuries aren't the issue with where we are on the table, it was the lack of performances early - same old same old

Might be time for a change, Hoffman is the only logical choice - unless they consider doing what Gould did at Penrith when he took it off Simmons and gave it to Alexander - Johnson has to take the team by the scruff of the neck, that kind of forces it - I don't have insights into how he'll cope - certainly Brandy reigned in some of the brilliance, but he and the team were better for it (until the tragedy with his brother) because he had all the toys (as does SJ) -

SJ you can visibly see riling up the troops at times which is good to see. Depends if you want to throw more weight on his shoulders or not.

You can always go the double captain route e.g. Mannering and SJ.

Guys don't have to officially be the captain to show leadership though. You can set an example both on and off the field without any sort of formal recognition of your position. If there's enough of it in the team, Mannering's captaincy shouldn't be the problem because he should have the respect of anyone with a clue. He's meant to be the captain, not the babysitter.
