Burgess tries an offload in their 30m and Luke jumps on it.
Hodgson gives him a swimming arm.on the ground!
Pom commentators not having it.
No penalty.
90 sec.

Jesus a bit nervous in the death.
Execution cost England.
SJ 1 point the right call.
Not sure why he didn't take another in the final 5 mins.
Dont think that performance beats Aussie.

Forwards still aren't doing enough to work it out of our 20 metre. Too much reliance on the backs. Once again Blair and Tapau showing up the starting props. Don't know if Bromwich is maybe looking tired after a long season? JWH pretty ineffective once again.

Gee that was a tough watch. Mostly solid performances but we're still lacking a spark or two. Still lots of improvement needed across the park to defend this title of ours.

Johnson's short kicking was as good as it gets, he was the match winner for sure. Tapau and Taumololo were great. The Melbourne trio solid. Kahn faultless at the back. SKD and JWH pretty useless. Was Nightingale playing? Yes but barely involved. Rapana was good, less one moronic penalty. Kata is now a defensive machine though on attack couldn't sniff a space. TL tackled like a champ. Luke ran well, maybe too often though.

Overall we defended well, especially on the scramble, and when we got a roll on in our attacking sets we looked great. But one slow play of the ball or coming off our line we are absolute mud. One out plays aint going to cut it fellas.

KIdwell looks like a spectator not a coach. At least pretend to make some notes or something...

We need Kahu at our club. I know FB is taken but a dependable as hell winger under the high ball/positionally etc, how ideal would that be. Pull some strings, Stephen.

And I cannot fathom how JWH can be out of the environment for so long, act like he's passionate, get all fired up in the haka then play like a marshmallow.

Another weak performance from JWH. Although he maybe went off injured in the second half, and had limited minutes in the first, it seems as if he doesn't make any real impact with his hit ups. He's just really not up to it at this level.

We need a better start against Australia. Blair to start because of the energy he brings. Eastwood off the bench in place of JWH although not having played in a while now may be a problem.

The Storm guys are getting through a lot of work but it feels like they are maybe lacking some energy. Long season of Nrl playing big minutes maybe?

I was hugely impressed by Kahu this morning. He's really growing into the role. Safe under the high ball and has a great sense of positioning. He definitely injected himself into the line more this time after stating pre game that he needed to involve himself more in attack.

With Fus and Rapana coming through, and RTS and Whare still to return, we are definitely increasing our depth in the backline.

JWH is a waste of space right now. I'd start Blair (the anti-JWH) and put Beastwood on the bench. Taupau and Ma'u just need more minutes also (at the expense of Blair, and maybe a small amount of any of the Storm trio's minutes too), they have been incredible and game-turning for two games in a row now.

SKD again a worry, Rapana very very good (that stupid penalty aside). Kata... going really good, but one of my biggest annoyances about that game as that we didn't give him more early ball near the line for him to run at Luke Gale (the guy who looked least impressive in contact).

Glad to see the love for Eastwood.

What I don't understand, is, for the most part, the majority of us here can see a few themes...

JWH underpreforming
Storm players looking tired

Seems coaches aren't able to see some of the simple things we do.
Tapau, Mau and Beastwood between them could easily take 15, 20 minutes off of one or both of the Storm back rowers. No point having someone like Mau only having 6 carries for a game when he can easily go 10-12 with good impact, instead of leaving some of the guys who are less likely to bend the line or pop an offload.

I think having both Proctor and Harris is a safer option for a team. We're not gunna beat Australia by playing it safe.

We won't beat them if our defence doesn't hold up either...England didn't score on Harris' side and they didn't score in the middle (where both were covering). Defend like they do and yes you'll be tired & it has been a long season for them...hopefully all 3 Storm guys get to rest in the Scotland game or something but against Oz would be a mistake. I think a few more minutes for those other guys and a few less minutes for the Storm guys could work a treat.
