The bunker monging it up are the ones I can’t stand. With all that technology they make basic inconceivable errors. The Ken no try was a rubbish call. The Fitzgibbon try was also a dud call. They were looking for a knock on, but they kept rewinding to two frames after it hit Hunts hand as Fusitua went to grab it. Same as last week on Fusituas try, it was a dud call and I have no idea how they possibly came up with it. I think they’re trying to get too fancy and too cute, and they lose focus on the key components of the play.
That said, blowing six again when Lino dropped it stone motherless, giving them the scrum off the restart which we never touched, and sending a bloke to the sin bin on a tackle that happened after time had expired will do me. And the second Mata’utia try when protocol has been all year to stop play when a player is concussed, with Gavin Badger literally looking at the player from three metres away was an epic stitch up.
Would like to hear Annesleys apology but rather than talk about the litany of mistakes I guarantee we only hear about the Ken howler and the rest will be swept under the carpet.
In terms of the game, the first half we were trying too hard to go around them. It was longish passes with a wet football which is not smart. It gave them time to come up and then easily shift if required. The key change in the second hand was less cut out balls, and more engaging of the line and then utilising short passes.
