vs Panthers

I really like it how Hurrell plants the football down over the tryline. Old skool all the way - a dive with the ball tucked under one arm.

Respect also to the fans from both sides who turned out in what were just awful conditions. They were some hardcore Warriors supporters who stood behind the goal posts during both halves but especially the second when they must have been drenched and freezing - glad they got something to cheer about (here we go, everyone's just going to say 'what's the big deal? That was like Mt Smart on a good day!')

Even in the stands we came home wet right through. That's a good stadium though, really compact and with a good atmosphere.

I haven't counted out crossing town to see them at Cronulla on Saturday, why not? (although I might have to wear my Ocker get-up or I might get bashed up).

I wasn't gunna whinge about the reffing cause we won. But it was ordinary as it has been, across the board all year. Why? Not just for the warriors. Hard job being a ref, I know that for a fact, I hate reffing and probably suck, but a first grade ref should get it right mostly and be even and fair.

You didn't watch the Roosters Broncos match did you.

Not that it makes a difference, but no. Did the Roosters get dudded? I hope so. Biggest whingers of all...the refs should perform accordingly.

Professional video referees should seldom, if ever, get it wrong like they did for Manu. That was a try whether you looked at it at normal speed or in slow motion.

The main thing that I want to see out of on-field referees is consistency. They were dreadfully one sided last night. Perhaps the worst since the Tigers in the semis last year.

Both teams got dudded in what was one of the most ridiculous displays of refereeing I've ever seen, only the Ben Cummins vs Anasta match comes close. Believe me last nights game was pretty well handled in comparison.

What was with all the panthers warnings last night? ESP that drop out when the ref was talking to Daniela, Walsh AND uaisele about impeding Manu. They should know the friggin rule, bloody penalise at least 1 of them, not tell them to be careful because they all changed paths to block Manu.

How was Newton's dropped ball not a knock on... crazy
How was Manu's third not a try.

I also though Maloney's try was double movement but anyway...

He might be forced to stick Godinet in there.

Mara was going great guns but I personally rate Godinet as well, it would be the best move from Bluey to fill him in there. He is small BUT he goes forward and thinks very fast on his feet. Bring on Godinet this is your chance if you get selected.

Stuart Raper admits Manu try called wrong (should have been awarded) and Maloney try was correct (not even close to double-movement).

I like Raper's transparency, its a breath of fresh air. But, where's the punishment for Cooley? Where was the punishment when they admitted BJ Leulia's try a few weeks against us was a no-try? Would something be done if we lost a close one? Or is it because we pumped them we live and learn?

How good was it to see Johnson playing square and direct and patient, as well as Mateo. Those two were outstanding. That to me was another development to his game, how to play when the track isn't hard and fast.

Yeah, I'll second that. Smart play. Kept the Panthers on the back foot.

Yep, have to say he seems to have a great knack for puching away from would be tackles then running in another direction but I feel like it's only a matter of time before someone absolutlely blindsides him into oblivion when he's doing his wee pirouette thing.
But that said his continual growth as a half is awesome, he seems to be learning and growing quite visibly this season. Good signs for the future.

Can't remember too many young halves who have come so far so quickly as Johnson has. So many facets to his game and how he commanded Monday night's win was akin to a veteran. Hard to believe this time last year he was debuting.
