Cody Walker and Nathan Brown on standby, didn't play for the Bears today.

Thanks.

Any word on whether Dylan and Gray will play?

I thought Lowe's bicep injury isn't too bad and he's on standby too.

Will be interesting on the final line up.

Imo R95 Carter should be on standby.

interesting! has cody walker ever played centre??? could be walker replacing walker for one game, lol

If Dylan and Gray are out I reckon Madge should just move McQueen to centre and have this back line:

1. GI
2. AJ
13. McQueen
4. Goodwin
5. Reddy

The new lock could be Grevsmuhl with Brown added to the bench.

A bench of:

Turner
Tyrrell
Tom
Brown

Anyway I'm only saying possible scenarios!

Imo alien there isn't any need for Cody to play.

Anyone know why the direct 2 trains from Central to Olympic Park are at 12:34pm and 12:54pm???

It's said it on various sites. I think it's stupid as the game doesn't start until about 4:10.

Looks like I'll be getting 3 trains there!

Nelson Mandela fires South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds to dream and win

Date August 1, 2015 - 9:45PM

As Souths prepare for Sunday's match against Penrith their halfback Adam Reynolds admitted he has been channelling former South African president Nelson Mandela in the club's quest to defend their premiership crown.
A quote that has been attributed to Mandela, who upon leaving prison in 1990 helped to bring an end to apartheid in his homeland before becoming a global advocate for human rights, has been a motivation for the scheming No.7.
Reynolds said the message "winners are dreamers that never give up" resonated with him the first time he read it.
"It means a lot to me," he said ahead of his duel with Penrith's No.7 Jamie Soward. "It's a goal of mine to be competitive every week and that idea of never giving up should be in every NRL player, there's a lot that inspires us out on the field but that little quote is one I go by."
Reynolds said he had watched documentaries on Mandela and often sought inspirational quotes and stories to help in his role as a team leader.
"I'm always looking to improve myself and whether that's through reading or listening to audio books [while driving] I do it," he said. "I think anything that drives a player to improve is worthwhile. [To progress] is all about improving as a player and person."
Reynolds said throughout his injury-affected season he had started working to improve on the "little things".
"I've wanted to keep on top of my game, my preparation, my leadership around the place, it's very important ... I've really noticed that over the last few weeks," he said. "It's very important to turn up to training and maintain that for the boys.
"We have a great squad that pushes each other every day and it's just matter of transferring that out on the field."
Reynolds said he had learnt about the team from watching them play from the grandstand while he was sidelined with a leg and then a hand injury. He thought his observations would help the defending premiers in the run home to the semi-finals.
"There was a bit of a plus to come out of that time," he said. "You can treat it as a negative but I took a few positives because I was able to sit back and see the strengths of our side and see where I could help out and where I could add value as well.
"I also noticed a few areas where I could improve myself as a player. I was looking at the game management, you see a lot from upstairs and whether it be game sense or in the gym, flexibility or getting stronger, I realised that could go a long way to me improving myself as a player."
Souths centre Dylan Walker said Reynolds' impact on Souths couldn't be understated, calling him the "little general" who instilled confidence with his approach.
"He brings a lot of control, a lot of enjoyment and fun; a good bloke and everyone loves having him around," said Walker ahead of the Panthers clash at ANZ Stadium. "Football wise he brings energy, control, talk ... he's our little general and offers so much and plenty of confidence."
While Penrith has been weakened by injuries and had lost their past three games on the trot, Walker said he and his teammates had not forgotten their shock round 17 defeat at Peppers Stadium when they were outgunned four tries to one.
"Penrith is a great side, a great squad," he said. "They nipped us in the last game and we can't let anything distract us this time around."

  • Chris Grevsmuhl will dedicate Sunday's game for Souths against Penrith to the same people he has since he made his top-grade debut earlier this year – to his mum Nerida and grandmother Coral.
The strapping 21-year-old, who won the Charity Shield, the NRL All Stars, Auckland Nines and World Club Challenge before making his top-grade debut against the Broncos in the opening round, said his mother, who suffered from multiple sclerosis when she became pregnant with him and grandmother who cares for her alongside his grandfather, were incredible people.
"My mum, she has always had MS and been real crook since I was young and for her to do what she did for us, getting us to games [that could be hours away in the Queensland outback] and everything else says a lot about the woman she is," the 21-year-old said.
"She lives with Nan and Pop at Hughenden [380km west of Townsville] ... mum can get around but not too flash, last year she got upgraded to a secondary progressive, so it's not too good."
Grevsmuhl said he was keen to use his growing profile at the Rabbitohs to become an ambassador for MS Australia and for the NSW and Queensland branches of the organisation to act as an ambassador and allow kids who have a parent stricken with the illness to benefit from his insights and experiences.
"I'd like to help raise the awareness," he said. "I heard that in Melbourne [researchers] have found something that might help in the treatment which is exciting but I'd be happy to help where ever I can.
"Hope is a big one and always something that's there. It's a degenerative [disease] so since I was young mum would lose her sense of feeling in her arms, her legs, in the sides her body, and then maybe after a few weeks it would come back.
"However, she is now at the stage where once a bit of feeling goes away it won't come back unfortunately."
Grevsmuhl had an incredible journey to reach Redfern. He moved from Hughenden to Townsville with his grandmother when he was 15 to make the most of his football talent.
"I slowly started to make school teams and rep teams and I ws picked up by the Cowboys when I was about 16, made a few Queensland and Australian teams before I played a fair bit of 20s when I was 18, 19 and 20," he said.
"When I was 20 I played a bit of Queensland Cup for Mackay Cutters and ruptured my ACL and when [Souths coach] Michael Maguire offered me an opportunity to play for Souths I grabbed it with both hands.
"I played a bit of Norths [Souths feeder club] last year and here I am. I've been lucky, I've had a lot of good people help me, mum, my nan and pop, my big brother Daniel who put up with me in Townsville when Nan went home and 'Madge' [Maguire] the faith he has in me is incredible."
The rugged forward said rather than talk about finishing the season in a top four spot he and his teammates have focused on each week, starting with Sunday's match against Penrith at ANZ Stadium.
"I'm excited, every team is a danger you can't take anyone lightly in the NRL," he said. "Everyone is out to play to the best of their ability and we just go out to do a job and play to the best of our ability."

Ugh!, ugly win.

Very ordinary by Sths considering the Panthers were without Moylan,Idris,Wallace,Plum,Docker,Simmons,Zelezniak & Whare!!

Sths were pretty much at full strength so it is concerning that the Panthers were able to match our team!!

It was horrible. Error after error and ther forwards just kept pushing their way up field. Even more concerning was the knock that Turner took. He has a long history of concussions so another one first game back is terrible.

I have a real problem with him even playing this year. Multiple concussions, bad neck injury and after what 2/3 weeks with the Bears and he's back in first grade and not for the last 20 like we all thought. I love Michael McGuire but if Turner's career is over he has to take some of the blame. He treats every game like its a GF and this time it may have backfired in a big way. Turner cannot play again this year. Carter, Lowe and Clarke can fill the role, they may not be as good as Turner but they're lives and health are not on the line when they run on. There are bigger things than winning rugby league games.

Didn't even wear an head guard, with his history of one concussion per game, I gotta think he's as dumb as Tim Grant - no wait - Tim's so dumb his mother has to drive him to the ground that Souths are playing on each week because Tim keeps getting lost.

Like you, I am amazed that he risked all for a game of football.

Headgear doesn't prevent concussion.

Turner has a technique problem when tacking---gets his head in the wrong place regularly;hence regular concussions.

He is an educated young man who stands to earn a lot more out of teaching in a safe manner over the next 35 yrs.
I don't for the life of me understand what Sths are thinking by playing him this season;or if ever again!!!
