Friend would have to be nuts to play in the cauldron of RL finals with an injury that typically takes 6 wks of pretty intensive treatment & rehabilitation.
The Roosters should be seen as negligent if they do send him out to play.
The chest is a big target for opposing forwards to zoom in on!!

Lol , a typical troll frog attitude.just croaking to be heard.

Why?

Valhero says he could not care who is or isn't fit for the opposition. meanings
i.e. I do not care who my team plays.
i.e. I do not care who is in my team. The "opposition " is your team.
i.e. More importantly , for a self righteous pompous ass , if he does not care who is fit from the other team , why does he bother to read what opposition fans have to say? Why does he bother to come into their forum and read their thoughts? Why does he care to bother?

You know why , because he is a smart arsed turd , that speaks with ugly fart.
We do not care what you say , so why bother , begone gaseous one.

Hollywood star Russell Crowe predicts fiery NRL derby between South Sydney and Sydney Roosters

  • by: Dean Ritchie Exclusive
  • From: The Daily Telegraph
  • September 03, 2014 12:00AM

IN sentiments to rival his famous quote from Gladiator, “At my signal, unleash hell”, South Sydney’s Hollywood co-owner Russell Crowe has predicted a fiery blockbuster with bitter neighbours the Sydney Roosters on Thursday night.

Speaking exclusively with The Daily Telegraph ahead of the second v third match-up that could decide the minor premiership and its $100,000 reward, Crowe has declared the game will be “on for young and old”.
Thursday night’s clash will pit the Gladiator against the Godfather in the latest instalment of the 105-year rivalry — rugby league’s longest — and the Oscar-winning actor also had some special words for long-time Roosters supremo Nick Politis.
Crowe will attend the game at Allianz Stadium with the TAB installing the Roosters as $1.45 favourites ahead of his $2.45 Rabbitohs underdogs.
It is shaping as the most important club game of 2014 with SCG Trust officials hoping for a crowd of around 30,000, if the weather is kind.“Come Thursday night, it’ll all be on for young and old and I’ll be at the game with the South Sydney faithful at an away match for us, but deep in Souths’ traditional home territory (Moore Park), wishing and cheering for nothing other than a Souths victory,” Crowe said.
“It is a great rivalry.
“Like all classic cross-town derbys, it’s our proximity to each other that intensifies it.
“There’s no single game on the league calendar that I look forward to more.”
Crowe revealed he recently met Politis for the first time.
And he jokingly said Souths fans had the wrong opinion of Politis.
“Nick Politis and I met for the first time earlier this year,” Crowe said.
“Funny to think that we hadn’t ever met. We were both in the customs hall at the airport so I went over to say hello.
“Contrary to popular belief among Souths fans, he only had the one head and wasn’t eating babies at the time I met him.
“It was a more than pleasant exchange. He seemed a very nice man.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s a lot to admire about his untiring commitment to the game.”

The Roosters secured a robust 24-12 win over Melbourne last weekend to set up for the Souths game, which could double as a grand final rehearsal between the two eastern suburbs rivals.
Souths coach Michael Maguire was impressed with the Roosters win over Melbourne, a club he worked at as an assistant under Craig Bellamy.
“They’re building pressure. That’s the key to the game against the Storm — they were able to apply a lot of pressure right throughout that game,” Maguire said.
“Those sorts of things are probably the things that every team are building on, so we need to be strong in that area.”
Asked about his side’s 21-14 win over Canterbury last week, Maguire said: “We performed well with 20 minutes to go there at the back end of the game — we were able to pull ourselves back into the game.
“There’s plenty of improvement in us and we’re aware that we’re coming up against a side that’s pretty well in hot form.”

'Beating Souths bigger than top spot'

By Dan Walsh
NRL.com

Trent Robinson doesn't need The Book of Feuds to know just how much Thursday's clash between the Roosters and their arch-rivals South Sydney means.
On the eve of a century of stoushes between the foundation clubs back in 2008, Rabbitohs co-owner Russell Crowe turned town crier with the release of a weighty volume decrying the Roosters "had lost their soul" and lacked the "tradition, stories or the romance that is South Sydney".
Six years on and for all the Bunnies' dominance of the '50s and '60s, the Roosters' regular sampling of the red and green's juniors smorgasbord, and even the touch of Hollywood added by their respective owners carrying monikers of 'The Gladiator' and 'The Godfather', the on-field rivalry between the two clubs is as strong as ever and will hit its height come their final round fixture at Allianz Stadium.
Twelve months since the neighbouring outfits came together with the 2013 minor premiership on the line, we're back to do it all again, this time on Chooks turf.
While Manly hold the inside running to finish in pole position, an unsuccessful outing this weekend for the maroon and whites will see either the Roosters or the Rabbitohs to lift the JJ Giltinan shield and pocket a cool $100,000 for their troubles.
Which, according to Robinson – trained in the ways of rugby league's oldest war since his junior days with the Tricolours in the mid '90s – comes second to securing bragging rights over the Bunnies.
"Ever since you become a Rooster you understand the rivalry between Souths and Roosters," Robinson says.
"It's always an important game... It's about the people in our area and also about trying to stamp our authority in the area and I know Souths feel the same.
"We know who we play for, and that'll be a part of that tomorrow night.
"I know finals are next week but it's bigger than a normal round game and it'll be game on tomorrow night.
"Sometimes the build-up comes from the outside but it is just as much within the teams as well.
"[The minor premiership] is a bonus, not a focus, if we are good enough we'll finish in first spot, but the focus is on the battle with Souths."
As if getting one up on their bitter rivals isn't motivation enough for the premiers, the match will also be the last regular-season appearances of retiring skipper Anthony Minichiello and rugby-bound superstar Sonny Bill Williams in front of the red, white and blue faithful.
Robinson says wanting to send the pair out as winners in their final home games for the club provides added motivation for the Roosters, but will not become a distraction in the lead-in to the match or their looming finals campaign.
"It is in the back of our minds, it's hard when you're on a task," Robinson says.
"This is a huge one for Mini and Sonny. Our last game in front of our supporters on our territory and that's important.
"So we will celebrate that tomorrow night as we should, but we're still on task for that one goal that we want."
Robinson was not surprised Souths hooker Issac Luke had avoided suspension for a dangerous contact charge after kicking out at Bulldogs skipper Mick Ennis last weekend. Likewise he says he has no issue with the Rabbitohs' wrestling tactics that have attracted plenty of attention recently, with Ben Te'o, George Burgess, Chris McQueen, Issac Luke and Kirisome Auva'a all cited for chicken wing or crusher tackles in the past month.
"I think they've copped their penalty when it's come time, and when they [wrestle] well they win games," he says.
"That's footy and we've got to be able to back our style of footy to beat that."

Rabbitohs Raw – Kyle Turner – Rd 26, 2014

Words: Tom Skolarikis I Video: Chris Beavon
Wed 3rd September, 11:12AM

Rabbitohs forward Kyle Turner fronted the rugby league media this week ahead of Thursday night’s blockbuster against the Sydney Roosters in round 26’s Ron Coote Cup.
The back-row young-gun is fully expecting a giant battle in the middle of the field against the Rooster come kick-off at Allianz Stadium, with Turner citing the need for a full 80 minute performance.
“There’s always those battles up front with the big boys,” said Turner.
“That’s just how the game is – it’s very tight and you’ve pretty much got to play 80 minutes of football to win the game.”
Turner will take his place alongside Chris McQueen and Sam Burgess at the back of the Rabbitohs’ scrum.
After making his debut in round three of the 2014 season, Turner has gone on to cement his place in the Rabbitohs’ starting line-up with his high work-rate, stinging defence and ability to make good yards.

Happy with the way Kyle is playing he is making 30plus tackles a game and scoring a few tries.

Would be good of he can make some more hit ups though last week against dogs he made 6 hit ups and against cowboys only 3. Need him to make about 8 hit ups consistently. If he does that he will become a very good player.

Next year Madge will want him to step up more and be making about 10 hit ups a game.

Hard to do work when he's concussed half the time, but i hope for his sake that he stays fit, and then he'll get more yardage up. That and he doesn't get many minutes but with Sam and Te'o leaving next year he should get plenty of time.

Yeah lets hope he stays fit and has no more head knocks. He has played more minutes than McQueen this year. But yeah especially with Sam making 20-25 hit ups a week hopefully Turner makes more hit ups next year.

We need him to step up though now and with no Te'o again it's a big game for Kyle. He has played the last couple of weeks since his head knock and has been solid. But we need more from him tomorrow and in finals week 1 than the last 2 weeks.

We need more from McQueen as well tomorrow.

Tyrell has been down on form the last couple of weeks. We definitely need more from him especially against the tough Roosters front row.

Geez I hope Sutton plays as well.

Greg Inglis seeks final piece of his South Sydney Rabbitohs legacy

League News
Date September 3, 2014 - 10:00PM Michael Chammas

Rugby league reporter

Churchill. Sattler. Inglis?

Does the phenomenon that is Greg Inglis belong in the company of those legends if he wins a storied premiership?
And if he does, will that be enough to convince Inglis to walk away from South Sydney at the end of his next contract, with the job finally done?
Glory, glory to South Sydney: Greg Inglis’ impact on the field for South Sydney has been immense, but the club has had just as much impact on him. Photo: Getty Images
The answer might be yes on both scores.
"If I leave this club with a legacy like those guys, it will be a massive achievement individually," Inglis said. "But individual accolades like that come from teams. Those blokes played in high-quality teams and I've got one here, I know I do."
At 27, what happens next is beginning to weigh heavily on the mind of Inglis.
"Words can’t describe what this club means to me ... It means a hell of a lot": South Sydney's Greg Inglis. Photo: Getty Images
Some die-hard South Sydney fans will argue Inglis is not in the same echelon as Clive Churchill without a legitimate premiership to his name and having fallen at the second-last hurdle two years in a row at the club.
Others will argue only time stands between him and being regarded as the greatest fullback rugby league has seen.
While he has fallen in love with the club and still has another three seasons at Redfern, Inglis has conceded time could be of the essence to take the Rabbitohs to the promised land.
Ahead of Thursday night's blockbuster against the Roosters at Allianz Stadium, the South Sydney No.1 will not jump in and tell you he wants to be a "bunny for life".
He admits he has already discussed what the future could hold, with wife Sally – who gave birth to their first child Nate in June – open to the possibility of a new challenge when his contract expires.
"You never know what's around the corner," Inglis said. "I finish my contract here in 2017. I just have to sit back and wait and see, whatever the future holds.
"It's been spoken about behind closed doors with the wife and I. It's just something you really have to weigh up your options [about] when it comes to the time.
"What legacy you want to leave is the question you have to ask yourself when it comes to that time."
Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson, who was instrumental in luring Inglis to the club in 2011, says Inglis hasn't approached him about what he plans to do in the twilight of his career.
But Richardson is under no illusion as to what impact Inglis will leave on the club and the game, regardless of what he decides to do in the final years of his career.
"When Greg first came to us, people were saying he might be the greatest indigenous footballer of all time," Richardson said.
"I told him he can be greatest footballer of all time. I'm not saying he's there, but he sets high standards for himself and they are not unrealistic. One thing about Greg, he's got great humility and respect for past players. I don't think you can compare eras, but he has the opportunity to create greatness here at the club."
In a city he once hated, Inglis has built an incredible connection with the people, who have adopted him as one of their own despite his love affair with the Sunshine State.
In less than four years at South Sydney, Inglis has become the face of a club that only a few years ago had nothing more than a rich history of success to crow about.
"Coming from Melbourne to Sydney, you really do realise the difference in the surroundings and it probably took me close to half a year to really know how important this club is, not only to the players, but to the community," Inglis said.
"It's been a good journey and a remarkable journey at the same time. Being from Melbourne, you could walk down the street and go unnoticed, but here it's more in your face and you can't escape it. That was probably part of the reason why I didn't get what the Sydney lifestyle was all about, because I really hated it at the start. But that's all turned around quick smart. I love it here now."
Brick by brick, from Sam Burgess to Inglis and Michael Maguire, the Rabbitohs have begun to rebuild the once-mighty empire, to give hope to all their long-suffering fans.
South Sydney has fallen in love with Inglis, which is hardly a surprise given what he has produced on the football field.
But the impact the club has had on him is one he never envisaged when he joined in 2011.
"Words can't describe what this club means to me," Inglis said. "What they've given me in my time here is remarkable. It means a hell of a lot. I feel the pain of the fans, I do.
"Everyone keeps talking about this long drought, but at the end of the day, you can't control what happened in the past. I can only control what happens in the future."
Some will wonder how in one sentence Inglis can talk about the possibility of moving on from the club when his contract expires, then express his affection for South Sydney.
That might have something to do with inquiries being made by European and Japanese rugby union clubs, offering to double his annual income. Or perhaps it is to do with his wife's family living in Queensland.
Maybe when the end of 2017 rolls around he might have achieved all he has wanted in the game or at South Sydney, and be ready to test himself elsewhere.
"I think that's perfectly logical thinking," Inglis' manager Allan Gainey said. "He still has three years to go with South Sydney, so he probably only has got another contract in him.
"You just don't know what's around the corner. He might have three kids by then and not want to move. He might have a post-football career sorted out by then and want to stay.
"Or, on the other hand, he might have won a premiership or two with South Sydney and be ready for another challenge because he's ticked everything there is to do in the game. But one thing about Greg, he's very loyal and he loves rugby league. He's had plenty of chances to do other things and was going to AFL when he left the Storm if it wasn't for a last-minute meeting with David Gallop."
Question marks over his loyalty when he walked away from an agreement with the Broncos in 2011 stung Inglis at the time.
He was hurt by the backlash it created and how it tarnished his image, but Gainey defended his client, blaming the Broncos for not showing the same level of interest in him that South Sydney did.
"People were questioning his loyalty at the time, but let me tell you, he's one of the most loyal people you'll ever meet," Gainey said.
"I know the Brisbane Broncos thing didn't come off, but they never once made him feel welcome or wanted. There was no comfort there. He never even got a call from the coach Ivan Henjak to say, 'It's great to have you coming,' something a coach would normally do.
"He didn't feel connected with the club, but right from the start things were different at South Sydney. They made him feel like it was the place he should be. [CEO] Shane Richardson treated him like his son, and he still does. He loves Madge [coach Maguire], he loves the whole place down there. Sure, he hated Sydney when he first got there, but he loves it now."
Souths' desire to please Inglis saw him spend the first four months of his time in Sydney living at Richardson's house, and according to the Rabbitohs boss, has become a part of the South Sydney family in more ways than one.
"He's the best footballer I've ever had stay at my home, and I've had a few," Richardson said.
"He made his bed every morning, cleaned up after himself and by the end my girls were calling him big brother. My wife treats him like another son that's how close he is to the family. We even argue and fight over the crackling of the pork at dinner. He means a lot to us and everyone at the club."

Rabbitohs brush minor premiership talk

By Jack Brady
NRL.com
6:00am Thu 04th September, 2014

Rabbitohs RAW - Greg Inglis - Rd 26

Star South Sydney duo Greg Inglis and Sam Burgess insist the 2014 minor premiership is not on their minds as they head towards a massive showdown with arch-rivals the Sydney Roosters on Thursday night.
Despite the prestigious J.J. Giltinan Shield and an extra $100,000 for their piggy banks on offer if they topple the Roosters, and North Queensland beat the Sea Eagles on Saturday, it hasn't been and won't be spoken about out Redfern way.
"No words have come out of anyone's mouths about [the minor premiership]," Inglis said. "We are just solely focused on what we can control by sticking to our processes and that starts at training.
"Our focus is to put forward a good performance as a team. It isn't ours to win really," Burgess added.
"We just have to focus on our job and if we get the result then you never know but it won't be something we speak about this week, it is our performance we will be focusing on."
With the Roosters shooting for six straight heading into finals footy, Burgess especially realised the momentous task ahead for a team that will welcome back captain John Sutton in place of suspended halfback Adam Reynolds.
South Sydney's struggles against the Bulldogs last round, where they failed to hit the lead until the final seven minutes, are something the Bunnies will be looking to avoid this week with a home semi-final on the line.
"We weren't at our best. We can't take that away from the Bulldogs though, they did a good job controlling us, but we made a few silly errors – me included – and we weren't as clinical as we wanted to be at times but we just have to keep building on our rhythm," Burgess said.
"Madge would have been a bit pissed off... obviously a bit frustrated that we could do better.
"When we were in good areas we just turned it over. We just want to get back on track and control the game a bit better."
For Inglis, who struggled throughout the Bulldogs game with a "jammed hip" after doing the splits on his knees, it is business as usual despite giving up the captaincy due to Sutton's return.
"I have definitely enjoyed it but I have always said from the start that John is our captain and I'm just the stand-in," Inglis said.
"Just because I had the 'c' next to my name didn't mean I approached the games any differently. More than anything it just meant I had to do more media stuff, that's the only thing that's changed with it.
"I'll just go about my business because I'm really enjoying what I'm doing right now."

Late mail:

The Roosters are in the midst of a hooking crisis following the injury to Jake Friend (chest, indefinite). Back-up hooker Heath L’Estrange (knee) was named on the bench on Tuesday, but has been ruled out. Third choice No. 9 Mitchell Aubusson will start, while young gun Jackson Hastings comes onto the bench for his NRL debut. No other changes expected.

The Rabbitohs are expected to be 1-17, with John Sutton (knee) to return. Greg Inglis (hip), Sam Burgess (knee, hip, shoulder, cork) and Chris McQueen (concussion/eye) are set to play despite picking up knocks last week.
