Great result, enjoyed most of the game.
What happened at the 42 minute when Konnie had the ball but was penalised? I could swear that Sue? what arm rolling his forearm over his spine or lower back with force

Digging his elbow into Hurrells lower back I think.

What's with Kata's hands? Bobbles the ball nearly every touch. Does a great job to re-gather it many times but jeez he must be trying to catch with his chest.

And what's with Konnie jumping out of the line EVERY TIME. Someone tell him to get in the right position, at least on occasion. He must be so low in confidence in his ability to tackle that he thinks his only option is to try to shut it down early. Problem is he didn't make a single one of those tackles.

He cleaned up defensive kicks very well. Made a small line break, some good meters and no mess ups.

For a plodder he played well.

I would still like to never see him on the field again for our team.

Yeah, that's a very fair assessment. He was playing on an old man with no pace and no aerial presence. The line break was a kick, so it wouldn't count as a line break (presuming you meant the one late in the second half).

Kata is nervous I reckon, hence the hands. His passing game is atrocious, presumably because he's never had to bother. But he'll improve if he works hard.

A bit harsh on Konnie. He shut down a potential try by racing up near the end there and forcing a Tigers error. He's a big guy and lacks lateral movement so he's much more effective defending rushing forward and clobbering people than he is if he's back on his heels getting stepped.

Kata to me looks like he's trying a little too hard and thinking a step ahead, just needs to slow down a touch and stop trying to make a linebreak before he even catches the ball, catch it first then worry about breaking tackles. Our problem is both of our centres have a tendency to do that. They're weapons, but not the most balanced pairing.

I was thinking the same thing.

I'm still waiting for Laumape to get back into the mix. If those three are fighting for a centre spot all year we've got some great potential here. Laumape must have a better passing game then Kata. And poor Manu hasn't had a good passing centre inside him since for how many years now? Ropati?

And of course we need a real winger in there ASAP. Wright did have a better game today but he is painfully slow! Those little breaks he makes get shut down so quickly. I guy with pace might turn those into huge plays.

Wright played well? He played on a 34-year-old glorified place kicker. He didn't do anything wrong but nor did he really do anything at all. That side had two guys who run the 100m in a collective 30sec...

I'm expecting Wright to be a solid, no-frills fill-in for our faster, more talented wingers, who are injured. I think he performed that role tonight. If he has to play next week then more of the same please!

If Wright plays like that every time we need him to start I'll be pretty happy with his signing. He's still our backup winger though.

Didn't play great, but better than last week and won the should-win game. Will need to step it up significantly for next week though, should be a good test. Should have won the game more comfortably, but as usual we couldn't go on with it.

Just got home from the game and nursing a hot cuppa tea

My thoughts:
I think we may have one of the best backrows in the competition. Thompson fits well, so far I'm pleasantly surprised by him. I honestly thought he'd be a benchie or a fringe player but hes now a natural almost automatic selection in the team. Hoffman, I think will be our best signing in history. Then theres Captain Fantastic.

I felt we had a great patch in the first half where it looked like it could've gotten ugly.
Also the last 10 minutes things went our way barring that soft try to Richards.
Other than that, we didn't go that good. Everytime they had the ball deep in our half, it felt like they scored. Also how many chances did we need to score? Far too many. Hand this performance in against some other teams and we may not be so lucky

Kata gives me the sh!ts. No doubting his talent but f**k me, learn to catch the bloody ball! Think its so frustrating because he can be so good.

How good is Townsend turning out to be?! Another player who is surprising me, thought he was a bit of a nuffy journeyman but he's found another gear this year.

Lolohea impressed, especially in the first half. I hope when Tomkins comes back that we can find a spot for him.

Hurrell improved on last week but theres more for more.

Didn't see the NSW Cup, how did Fusitua and Laumape get on?
Isn't Fish due back next week too?

Could be some interesting selections happening re-our backline soon

I fear you'll be disappointed. He marked up to a draughthorse today and should've come away having played decently. Richards had no tools to expose him. He'll get skinned by quicker, bigger wingers. Koroibete is a freak to be fair but he could've scored 10 on him last week with more ball.

Im anxious to see him on anzac day matching up against genuine pace that aJames Roberts has. Assuming Wright is selected of course.

PW wouldn't quite right Richards off just yet, he's no mug. Talks of him even stepping up for origin .
Richards showed last week that he's still got it in the tank.

Wright should get recognition for an improved performance. Not saying he was outstanding by any means but his besr performance in a Warriors jersey

Fusitua looked very good in the reserves. Looked very fit - quite confident too for a first outing.

I thought Jonathan Wright had his best Warriors game this evening.

You know the media..always getting carried away. If Pat Richards couldn't kick goals he wouldn't be near the side, the Tigers I mean. He had a decent game v the Eels and laid on the try for Tedesco with a fluke chip inside off his shin bone. Sorta like how Wright had a decent game today - they both marked up on NSW Cup-esque talent.

Yes it was his best Warriors performance, and by some margin because his previous were shithouse. And if you picked him today, you have to pick him next week. You watch the Cows run left with gay abandon next week and isolate him and Hurrell.

But then they say his likely replacement, Fusitua, is one of the most shithouse, flaky defenders we've got? So what gives? Some pace and skill in attack I guess. On that level Fus is a cert if fit.

That isn't far wrong. But with Fus at least you're getting a guy with pace, aerial skills and he can conceivably be your winger for the next 10 years. Tonight we got as good as we're ever going to get out of Wright.

I remember looking back in the Sharks forum when we signed Wright, and they were that happy to get rid of him - the spoon side who said he was their worst.

Anyway, enough I've made it clear since the day he signed I don't want him in the side.

Good enough win this week but we're up against next week. Best we can hope for is the Cows to beat the Rabbits and get a bit cocksure. Or for Kon to run at JT like he steamrolled Brooks tonight.

No Warriors side in the last 20 years has been expected to win vs the Cowboys in Townsville. So a win there next week would just be a real bonus for us.
