Sorry not sure if this late but will catch the replay.

Look forward to reading people thoughts on the game.

Going to be a hard game losing Walker mid week.

Enjoy.
Just logging in now. I'm looking forward to seeing how our Tony Kemp-coached, Steve Price/Stacey Jones/Monty Betham-captained side goes. Oh, and we need some good news from Wairangi Koopu too!

C'mon Warriors!

I don't want to break it to you my man....
Well, I'm not sure who 'Waitangi' is anyway. I was tired and emotional when when I got home from work last night and checked the score.

I also saw '24-20' (to the homeside) for a split second, and felt sick.

Ps, I hope you all got the original joke, otherwise you'd think I was going senile.

My brief thoughts
- What a slog, great to se us winning these close games
- Luai caused us so much trouble
- Afoa and Kosi didn't actually look out of place in first grade
- Erin Clark has been a great pick up
- Stacey is always eating!... him getting angry at Halasima not centering for the conversion was pretty funny
- 3 players on report, but no sin bin... wheres the advantage for the Warriors here?
- Didn't mind seeing the teams get fired up, and felt the ref then brought it under control well afterwards
- Better last play option than last week, but still needs improving.
- Loving the impact of Ford, Vaimauga and Leka off the bench but feel we lose a bit of structure when MB and Fish are both off

Great to get the win!! Kosi proved the doubters wrong including me.

Defence was fairly loose at time and kick chase dropped off at times. But 8 minutes after we got the try to level up we were just dominating them

Also is it me or does Taupiki not chase back when beaten. When the Tigers kicked through from their own 20 at the end quite a few Warriors were sprinting back in cover but Taupiki was jogging back

Also noticed whenever they make a break Shen his side he doesn’t really sprint back with urgent y

Wests Tigers v Warriors

Jarome Luai (WST)

Grade 2 Careless High Tackle on Edward Kosi (46 min)
Base penalty 2 matches
1st offence
- Early Plea - 1 match
- Guilty at panel / no contest - 2 matches

Luckily we won the game because the Broncos enjoy the fact Luai wont be on the field, not us....

Alex Seyfarth (WST)

Grade 1 Careless High Tackle on Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (72 min)
Base penalty $1500
1st offence
- Early Plea - $1000
- Guilty at panel / no contest - $1500

So not a milk for whoever was saying he was milking. Obvious hit to the head with shoulder. completely different to Turuva who was tackled below the neck area and clearly milking. Also completely different to DWZ who is also an infamous milker.

Also, so the tackle that skittled Barnett was ok? You can dive at their legs with no tackling technique?

Webster may indeed be the messiah, how the hell is this halves pairing winning games ?!?!
have to like that the team is winning ugly... but don't really see any other way for them to win - it's high stress stuff, you'd think they'd hit the wall at some point, hard to see where an easy win would come from

Benji "we got no favors today, that was pretty obvious"

"If you were there watching, you'd know"
Just watched the presser now. Benji was grumpy 🤣🤣

Wonder how he feels about getting no favours after the judiciary charge sheet? And with Annesley admitting Luai should've been binned?

It's funny that all players that should have been in bin either origin players or playing for a glamour club.
But good of NRL to come out and say they should have gone to bin and apparently will in the future.

I know social media is a cesspool but the reaction to this game (in a "Tigers were robbed" way) has been extraordinary in its stupidity. I didn't think it was a particularly controversial outcome at all.

Each team had multiple disallowed tries but I haven't seen anyone seriously attempt to argue that the calls were wrong.

CNK probably stayed down to win a penalty, which no-one really likes, but it was still very obviously a high tackle and a penalty.

Luai was probably a bit lucky to stay on the field - and that's probably the most arguably wrong call of the whole game.

Dunno if people have seen this, but we are top of the NRL in the following categories:

Post contact metres
Dummy half runs
Run metres
Set completion

That's pretty impressive. OK, that doesn't equal points, but it's a decent platform

We also rated highly on most of those categories last year I think. It's exactly what makes us frustrating to watch - routinely dominating through the middle but playing such a "yardage for the sake of yardage" style that at times it's like we're not even thinking about how we might score points.

Also I find that our defence on yardage sets is often extremely strong but we seem to go to pieces defending our own line or when the opposition throw something a bit different at us. So, it tends to feel like we're dominating about 80% of the flow of any given game but disaster always seems imminent.

Oh no I agree 100%. It's almost more frustrating because we don't turn that field position into points. I dunno about yardage for the sake of yardage, but clearly we lack the attacking nous and creativity to turn into points.

I do think it speaks to a strong attitude, but you also see everywhere in the media, on here etc that people don't rate us because they don't think we have the quality to score points. And I think most on here would agree.

I think it probably comes from a coach obsessed with statistics. So these are the metrics he emphasises. Getting us into a position to score points. The last piece of the puzzle is missing though.

The lack of points comes down to not having a settled halves pairing in recent seasons. We need to give Metcalf and CHT time to develop their combination, it takes a few games to properly click. If we can't secure a dominant, experienced halfback, we have to be patient with what we've got.

People often overlook the fact that both Metcalf and CHT have very little NRL experience. I’m not excusing Metcalf’s performances. I agree he plays more like a six, but the club brought him in as a seven, and the coach is giving him the chance to settle into that role. If they can both stay injury-free this season, we might see them form a solid partnership capable of generating points for the Warriors.

Patience is key.

We have a strong middle, and Egan has again started the season very strongly - everything seems off him atm...

It's still a work in progress. The halves are a new pairing, and expecting a seamless transition this early is unrealistic. It will take time at least half a season, maybe longer for things to properly click. With Dylan Walker’s recent departure, Egan is now the key playmaker in attack. The Warriors aren’t the only team struggling with halves combinations, so patience is essential as they find their rhythm.
