There was an obvious plan to play through the middle and yes I thought we were very conservative in attack.
I really liked the tactics though.
There was no panic when the tigers pushed and instead of silly offloads and crazy passes they just put their heads down and outplayed the tigers.
We played like a championship team versus a plucky challenger, we never really looked in danger and eventually dominated.

Yeah it wasn't an insult just an interesting observation. Strange to see Panthers finally be the team with different levels and playstyles depending on the needs at the time.

5 day turnaround rules Yeo out. Give him a rest is always good. Capewell and Kikau back to come in

Ivan said in the press conference that Yeo passed his HIA, but they decided to keep him out of the game anyway. I think that means the HIA return to play protocols won’t apply to him anyway because he didn’t suffer a concussion. It will be up to the club whether he plays.

Also basically said Api will play. Cool that the guys we’re losing are the guys we’d probably want to give a rest anyway.

I’m wondering which edge teams would prefer to defend. Martin/Naden would drive you insane. Naden has really surprised me this year with his fantastic and fast hands and tonight he played with edge and niggle but didn’t lose his head once.

Luai has been solid all year but looks to be seriously finding his place in the last few weeks. Seeing him post match, he looks to be a big part of the mateship and fun in the team.

May had some sublime touches and I thought Kenny was really good, had some great darts and fitted our direct game plan well. I also thought our bench was great tonight, they wrestled the game back and then won it.

My first big take out is that I’m starting to think we are generally keeping a lot of powder dry in these games against mid table teams. We seem to go up a couple gears pretty effortlessly when we are facing a bit more class and are proactively having our ‘down’ games when we can afford it.

The second, is that we have a pretty unique situation with the vast majority of the team coming through and playing/winning together since they were 15-18. Sure some teams have had 6/7 guys come up but we’re talking 13/14 of the 17. The comradery between them is what we have to combat the Storm and Roosters experience.

I don’t think Nath had an off night. He was dangerous running the ball and he some great kicks to go along with a couple bad ones. Luai was brilliant, he’s running the ball with confidence now.

Mitch Kenny deserves a rap he was great, some really strong runs.

I thought we actually played well except for a few handling errors. The tigers were on the first twenty, they defended really well and scored a nice try.

I laughed pretty hard last night at the tigers post game coach interview. The last question was possibly one of the worst I have heard and the bar is not very high.

“What do you like most about the Panthers team?”
(Who just kicked your butt)

Maguire handled it pretty well, and just said he focused on his team, no more questions.
