Agree with you there. The Cleary/Martin combination is developing nicely and I wouldn’t change it. Its great now to have attacking threats on both edges rather than just on the left with Kikau.

Capewell is more attacking though. Martin runs great lines but often nothing comes when he gets his arms free. They will be a good combo

If they're match fit I fully expect Cleary to start Capewell and bring Whare back in. Martin off the bench, Naden probably to miss out, but there isn't many games now to get match fitness up before the finals.

Interesting, I don’t see him as an edge forward at all. He isn’t physical enough. Maybe he could change that, but too early to be saying he’ll be a star there.

As @martielang said, he played better when he was in the middle.

He’s the style of lock that was popular 10-20 years ago.

I don’t think he lacks physicality he didn’t miss a tackle last night, either way he’s from mt druitt so I’m sure we could coach a bit more into him if need be.

Im not saying he’s there yet but I think if someone decided to mould him into an edge forward he could turn out pretty good.

I've just watched the match, via the NRL website. What a great match, both sides played well. Moses Mbye, should be suspended for his act on Nathan Cleary, and BJ should too. Things are building nicely at the foot of the mountains.

Great stats really considering he is just filling in.

May could be a very good edge forward like a prime wade graham if he got moved there permanently. Not saying we should do it but if it did happen I think he’d a borderline rep back rower.
I'd be very surprised if his efforts in several different positions over the past two months have gone unnoticed by B Fittler. If they're picking 25 man squads he must be some sort of a show.

Yeah but he didn’t play heaps of minutes in the SR, about 30 I think. More defenders around him in the middle. He can definitely bulk up for it, though.

Most pleasing thing for me was the couple of sets where we really muscled up in defence. To win a comp you have to have that bit of mongrel. Changes momentum and this year its all about momentum

I thought he did very well.

On another note, did anyone notice the coach's faux pas in the presser. He said May had done lots of video work during his enforced layoff. I suspect he might like that moment back.

Ha ha! Yes I noticed that. I looked at my wife and said, “not the best choice of phrase given his recent history!!”

Well we certainly pack a lot of polish when Api is out. Don't like our chances against top 4 teams if he were to be out.

But i think we could be missing half our roster and still be winning these games against bottom 8 teams. There's a few guys who can come up with something from nowhere to bag enough points to win.

Last night the only shot Tigers wanted to fire after exposing Mansour with a kick. Was trying to grub it up with our guys and hopefully throw them off their game. Which made it more impressive when Taylor and Mbye helped steady Yeo. Mbye tries kicking Cleary in the head... Yet also tries to help out Yeo. Both the biggest grub act of the night and one of the best.

Penrith will finish most likely first.
So they will play the side who ends 4th. At this point it will be Roosters,Eels,Souths or Canberra. Most likely Roosters or Eels(but they are sinking fast)
Ive always felt if finish 1st yoh should get to chose. Same as if finish 5th you get option of who wish to play between 7th and 8th. Otherwise it can't ake away the advantage.
Storm may get the eels and you guys the Roosters.

Both my teams could get analed week 1

May played 67 mins all up with Yeo playing 48 mins before going off and May moving to lock.
Majority of his minutes were at 2nd row

A couple of years ago the Broncos did get to choose, and they chose wrong, beaten by 30 by the Dragons.

Parra will wrap up a top 4 spot by beating the Warriors, a tougher task than previously thought. The following week against us will determine 3rd or 4th for them, especially if the Roosters account for the Raiders as expected but maybe even if its the Raiders.

Huh? You’ve never been able to choose your finals opponent. I know it’s been talked about, but it’s never been implemented.

The Broncos got to choose by how many points they beat Manly by in the final game, which was the last game played in the round. Actually from memory Cummins chose for them by disallowing their last try without even going to the bunker.

When the game started they had to win by 33 to finish 5th and get the Warriors. They won by 32 and so got the Dragons. They could have played any of three sides depending on the result and margin.
