WA BEARS

Storm success sets a blue print for future clubs. WA rugby league is perfectly positioned to look and learn from the huge achievements of this club. Given the tokenistic approach to development in ‘affiliated States’ pre Vlandys and Abdo, WA rugby league can avoid the errors of the past and quickly move to a success based model around pathways, increased participation, while capitalising on all their own hard work up till now. The goal should be for WA rugby league to have over 10000 juniors, secured pathways and a clear WA identity within in ten years if not earlier. It’s their destiny. Maybe then this condescending patronising big brother Sydney centric approach of having to be aligned with a parasite can be condemned to the dust bin where it belongs.

Storms success was borne from having the major stakeholder of the game as their owner as well. They were able to set themselves up by stripping the best players from Reds, Mariners & Crushers to form a strong club from the outset.

They heavily recruited from QLD in the early 00’s and were able to identify and develop 4 of the best players of the last 50 years simultaneously.

After all that on field success it still took them 23/24 years to set up proper pathways that benefits the game in Victoria.

How they were set up initially to succeed would be incredibly difficult to replicate today because the game and the disparity between clubs has changed a lot since 1998.

Storms continued success has been tremendous.

But the true blueprint all clubs should strive for isn’t Storm. It’s actually Panthers (once they finally got all their ducks in a row and managed right).

Through Panthers Group they have built a super strong commercially sustainable model to ensure strength off the field and through their streamlined pathways and sophisticated talent identification development systems they have the best rugby league nursery in the world to ensure strength on the field.

Since Western Bears is aiming for 10,000 juniors it’s actually the Panthers model that they should be striving for. Not the Storm.

Definately, if you follow either the Storms or especially the Roosters model the game will die.
Every club should be encouraged to develop juniors and local junior competitions.

They’ve talked about salary cap concessions for junior players (decent ones) but not done anything

I don't know, but they seem to be very much coming from the North Sydney side of the partnership, suggesting that the club is the same one as before but with a little touch here and there of WA to appease that minor part of the deal.
We’ll see if the statistics carry over or not.

Congrats on providing elite level irrelevant twaddle. If you read my post you will see I’m am referring to the great work done building pathways and increasing participation in Melbourne. I’m not referring to Premierships and commercial success in their early years. Im talking about the great work done investing in growing in a difficult market since Vlandys and Abdo took over. Try reading my post instead of writing utter irrelevant bullshit. My clear point was that WA rugby league has a great model to follow for growing the sport in a difficult market. The vic rugby league’s funding was pitiful for many many years. It’s why they couldn’t grow juniors. They can now as they have adopted a great model and finally have funding. It’s a great model for WA rugby league to adopt and adapt. The Penrith model is based on growing an incredibly popular sport in a soft market. Your Sydney centric bullshit view was utterly predictable. WA rugby league does not need your parasite club.

You really hate the Storm. And you lie endlessly about them. The storms model has no resemblance to the roosters.

Congratulations on again proving my point that you are no where near as intelligent as you think you are. Again, you prove to a forum of people what a complete and utter moron you are.

I gave you legitimate and calculated reasons why a club trying to achieve 10k juniors in its catchment should go for the Panthers model of both business sustainability and growth and junior development.

But of course, your lack of intelligence fails to grasp the idea.

Furthermore, You still haven’t answered or replied to the as you stated “lies” below.

You know the biggest proven sports drug cheating scandal in the game. For the record Storm also got caught in the biggest salary cap cheating scandal in the game. So maybe your sentiments towards the Storm stems from the fact both Sharks and Storm are known cheats.
Again kudos to Sharks for saving themselves and building themselves up.

But don’t act like they didn’t involve themselves in parasitic behaviour. Which you started it with off handed comment that I responded to.

But sure, lies..

You didn’t provide anything. You just made baseless statements. Unlike you I’ve been involved with vic rugby league and I know their journey. WA will do well to learn from them. WA will also do well to divorce your parasite club asap.

Are Panthers Group not a sustainable model for a business? Yes they are.

Are their pathways and junior development not the best in the game? Yes it is.

So why the hell wouldn’t any club follow that lead. It makes absolute sense to structure a club like this commercially. The very club you support follows this set up.

Further, if you were involved with Victorian RL it’s ironic to see them grow AFTER you have left that post. So whatever you were doing, did sweet FA to the development of the game there considering the pathways and structures weren’t set up properly until recent years or as stated 23/24 years AFTER the Storm’s first season. Those are facts, Vlad.

Live with it, you senile moron.

The panthers are a soft market. The vic rugby league market best resembles Perth and they have learned how to build participation and pathways through hard experience. WA will do well to follow that model. And get rid of your parasite club. Keep up the ageist personal abuse. You aren’t good at it but it seems to make you happy.

Perth want to be a top market. They themselves through their own NRL WA and NRL WA Consortium are on record saying this.

The Storms model to success has been to go into QLD and NSW to identify talent whilst being owned by a global billion dollar conglomerate in their initial years and even with these upsides they still had to systematically cheat the system.

How deep is your head in the sand mate? Further, Storm are in a market against 8-9 Victorian AFL teams, 3 A League Teams and the rest.

WA has 2 AFL teams, 1 A League Team and 1 Rugby Team. All this is relevant to how they should be set up due to market saturation. What has worked for Storm, won’t work anywhere else because of the circumstances in play.

WA to reach its absolute potential with maximum juniors and commercial strength needs to go the way of the Panthers and from someone who knows what’s actually doing there, I’m not saying this as an opinion but a knowledgeable assessment of how they will approach their set up both commercially and as an over arching footballs operations. That is the goal.

Your age has all to do with it because you clearly haven’t been keeping up with the times. You realise we are in 2024 right? Not 2008.

If victoria is the model Perth will be copying then they won’t be producing many nrl players after 25 years and just bludge off nsw qld and nz

Keep plugging away with irrelevant twaddle and personal ageist abuse. You have no idea what you are on about and having WB as a fanboy isn’t good for your credibility. But keep them coming laddy. Your club is a parasite.

Western Bears can always cheat the cap or use performance enhancing steroids and peptides I guess. Just need to be smarter than Storm and Sharks at hiding it.

And if they are caught I can always come back here on record in my later years in life and deny it…
