The 2025 draw is out on Thursday, I doubt there'll be any announcement close to that.

Maybe next week, after the 2025 draw has been covered & dissected by media?

The premier is travelling to Sydney this week and is expected to meet with NRL powerbrokers to discuss a new NRL team based in Perth from 2027 or 2028.

“I’ve had government officials meet with the NRL to consider the issues and the dimensions of negotiations,” Cook said on Sunday.

“The conversations are going forward
.”

Progress was stalled when the Western Bears bid, led by Peter Cumins, spectacularly unravelled over a decision not to offer a license fee, at a time when head office was seeking a figure of approximately $20 million.

NRL figures, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of discussions, told 9News Perth and WAtoday Perth was still considered strategically” the best option for the game as the consortium revised its deal

I hate to break it to you but those quotes sound to me like this has a long way to go.
NRL sources still talking about Perth being "strategically the best option", worryingly does that mean financially the bid isn`t hitting the mark.
I suppose the good news is that they are making the trip across the Nullabor to see the NRL, that does indicate they are certainly still keen.

There is someone who can provide updates but the ususal mob just mock him and say he’s making stuff up

The ins and outs are getting boring wish they would just hurry up and announce it
Who is that? How often are they correct? Also if they are giving updates then why would that be mocked? Isn't information a good thing? I've always been about 5 tins short of the full slab but there's some strange cats on this forum that's for sure

Isn't that just your opinion? How's that breaking anything to anyone? Is your opinion breaking news to all on here? Are you in the know or have any information about the West Aussie Bears? Curious as to why you think the value of your opinion is different to what others who think the opposite is?

Pretty accurate

Looks like the deal is close no need for more updates as per @Perth Red post above

PVL: “I will have more talks with the WA government, but not necessarily the current consortium.”

Which is it mate?

Perth Red loves his mate Peter Cumins, if he isn’t involved he doesn’t want a NRL team in WA.
Hasn't V'Landys said on multiple occasion that NRL and Commish aren't working with the West Aussie Consortium anymore? Peter Cumins sounded like a little baby in the interviews he did after grand final. Someone like that would get eaten alive in the pro rugby league environment.

Do you have any updates from the North Sydney side of things?

@Perth Red are you part of or associated with the West Aussie Consortium?

You're like kids at Christmas wanting to open your presents before Christmas day.

Unfortunately I can't give you a backhander like I did my youngens.

Patience Grasshoppers.
You hit your kids? Rough.

Me dad just had me and my brothers box it out to sort out our issues until mum came in and defeated us all.

As a result of these impromptu boxing sessions one of us can throw a mean left hook, the other a good right jab and the final brother can take knocks to the head and laugh it off. PS I still can't throw em.

Are you excited for the West Aussie side? Or are you a former Bears man?

Thanks mate, will do now.
Without knowing specifics @Perth Red

The hurdle has supposedly been jumped. Waiting game now to see what comes of it.
Hi Bear, I saw this post and wondered that with West Aussie government coming to Sydney this week and Roger quoted in saying things are moving forward (with NRL) can you allude to what you meant by this post?

Is the hurdle an impasse which was resolved or is there something more to it?

Also are you in the know with North Sydney or someone else? I'm a bloody curious bastard I know, I'm just asking what many outside this forum want to know. What's actually going on. If you tell me I won't keep it a secret, I'm shit at keeping secrets.

The premier looks set to get his wish for more rugby league games, with WA expected to host three National Rugby League fixtures next year, on top of Game II of the State of Origin.

WAtoday and 9News Perth understand the NRL will announce a standalone match and a double header at HBF Park when it releases the 2025 draw.

Just one match was played in Perth in 2024, when 20,000 turned out to watch the Sydney Roosters defeat the Dolphins 40-34.
When asked on Monday if he would like more games brought to Perth, WA Premier Roger Cook said he “always wants more”.

“I always want to see the NRL come to Western Australia. We know NRL fans love to travel, and they come to the games over here, spend their money in the pubs, the clubs and the hotels, and it’s a boost to our great tourism industry,” Cook said.

“Of course, as a ‘leaguer’ myself, I love seeing the game in Western Australia, but we know that when we bring things like State of Origin to WA, all eyes of the world are on WA.
“Globally, it’s recognised as one of the great grudge matches of modern sport.”
It was revealed on Sunday that Optus Stadium would host Game II of State of Origin on Wednesday, June 18, 2025

Great update.

I don’t like the idea of a double header at HBF park though.

Surely the single match at HBF park and the double header at Optus would be better.

I’m the same about keeping secrets so hence I don’t want any updates
